Respite for me and dog
I have recently had a lot of stress and anxiety in my life and am not coping well. My dog (a delightful 4 yr old Lhasa Apso) has been looked after by a number of people (not kennels) because of this recently and now I feel I need to have a short break, about 4-7 days, when I can rest and relax, maybe get some support too,…

Experiences of neutering male dogs
My Lab-Alsation Male dog is becoming full grown at 14 months, and I'm considering the options for neutering, if at all. I've been rather uneasy about neutering after reading this article, which raises serious questions of the operation on the health of the dog. There's more on behavioural effects and population control…

Computer Quote insurance
Has anyone here got a pet insurance policy with Computer Quote? And, more importantly, if so have you ever made a claim with them? They're coming up alongside the likes of John Lewis and Legal & General when doing a comparison quote. And all of them are beating Petplan hands down (my current insurers) who are currently…

Badly Behaved cat
I got a 3 year old cat from the Cat's Protection league about 9 months ago. He has Trioditis & has a special diet, but has never been ill since we've had him. He's very clean & very gorgeous, but he bites and can attack you with claws & teeth drawn. he's bitten me often & twice really made a mess of my arm. He seems so…

Help needed with 'stubborn' dog please.
Really need help with this pleas before hubby says doggy has to go. We have a 15 month old spaniel which we bought from a lady 5 weeks ago. He is a pedigree and we have his papers, have had him checked out by a vet and so on. The lay said she couldn't keep him as he was so boisterous she could not manage him. To be fair…

Fussy chihuahua
Can anyone recommend a good quality food for a fussy chihuahua? She is just a pup at 20 months old and she likes wet foods however she has a very sensitive tum and most give her the runs. The only one I have tried that hasn't upset her is chappie but she went off that very quickly. My other chi has royal canin dry food and…

!!!! Vet/ Glasgow Vet School
Hi, Has anybody used either the !!!! Vet or Glasgow Vet School? Was wondering how much they cost to have an animal seen? Is it only referrals from vets within the community they take or can they take clients off their own back? Thanks

Calorie Count of Cat Food
My much beloved oldies are no more, but the leftovers are very much in existence - one is about 13ish, long haired, possibly mixed parentage with a Maine Coon, going by the lynx tipped ears, furry toes and Fluffy knickers/feathers. However, she's still normal cat size and looks like a rat when bathed, as she's more floof…

Help! fleas but no cat
Hi all :) I've just moved into a new place and I'm being bitten all over when I'm in the house, leaving me with tiny red itchy spots. When I had a cat I used frontline for him and we had no fleas. My cat sadly passed away a while back and I know flea treatment is different now with resistance to frontline I think. But I…

Dog cancer medication
Unopened/unused Masivet for dogs not able to be returned to vets for use by other dog(s) with relevant mast cell tumour cancer. Anyone know of a legitimate solution so that medication not wasted - cost in excess of £200 for one month supply and seems such a waste when it could help someone with expensive cost of treatment.

Have you ever thought your cat was missing...
Have you ever thought your cat was missing only to find them snuggled up somewhere warm oblivious to your frantic searching? We have a 5 month old kitten called Marble. Today she went missing for 1 and a half hours. We were having a new log burner fitted today, but she was safely out of the way upstairs. After the workmen…

11 years old today!
I just want to record the fact that my very-much-loved terrier-type mongrel is 11 years old today! Miss Vivian LEIGH Terrier (actually christened Leigh by Hearing Dogs, but she is non-working) has recently been having Piriton on advice of the vet for a snuffle-y allergy. As a first-line action to improve this, I've changed…

We just got a Bengal cat and have a few questions
We just got a Bengal cat as the owner could not have her anymore as their little girl was allergic to her. They asked loads of questions to make sure she was going to the right home, as the price we paid was extremely cheap and had loads of items with her too. They really wanted to make sure someone was willing to pay for…

Do You Let Your Cat Sleep On Your Bed
Recently my cat who I have now had for 17 years has been getting very restless at night time. She always slept in our room and when the weather turned on our bed. I have now let her sleep in the dining room at night time instead because she would wake us many times in the night. She is warm and safe in there and has a nice…

Klepto Cat
Anyone else got a cat who steals? I got a rescue kitty 3 months ago and she's absolutely perfect in every way except she steals stuff, found a chicken breast on my bedroom floor this morning that I'd left out to defrost :rotfl: She's a menace! Socks, pens, makeup brushes, you name it she steals it.

Fish numbers down - leeches to blame??
Hi, the number of fish in the pond seem to be going down every year, for no apparent reason - too well defended to be herons. At least a couple of frogs, while they may be to blame for the absence of fish fry - have had no 'babies' for three years at least!? However, I have seen leeches in the pond, and I wonder if they…

Are cages just a trend?
My daughter is picking her chocolate lab puppy up at the weekend and we have been pondering the idea of a cage. I grew up with dogs who weren't caged and never caged my 10 year old yorkie either. Is it really necessary or just a fad that has took hold?

Animal Friends
I have my young dog (Lab) insured through Animal Frinds paying around £15. What are your thoughts on this company? As a fellow dog owner on a walk told be to tread with caution. Thanks

Super sharp claws!
I love the cat sitting on my knee but she has such sharp claws that kneading totally destroys my trousers. She will not sit on a throw or a cushion, just on my knee. Similarly she is gradually shredding the sofa in my home office that she sits on- the surface of the leather seat cushion is now pierced with tiny holes. At…
