Average cost of procedure

My dogs needs a dental and whilst he is under they are going to X-ray where his wrist is as he is having some discomfort here and is limping. The type of insurance I have won't cover this, I only realised this once I got home, so just wondered if anyone has a guesstimate of the cost of this procedure. Stupidly didn't ask in the vets as I thought the insurance would cover and just wanted to get him booked in and checked out. I hate asking about the cost of things like this as I don't want to seem like I care more about the price than my dog
Can't get an estimate by email and I've called but the receptionist can't give me an estimate so I'm just waiting for a vet to call. Hopefully should hear by this afternoon but it would be good to get a rough idea before this.
Thank you

How long's a piece of string? You'd be better advised to call your vet and ask them for a price, explaining you won't be covered by insurance.0

Aneasthesia is charged according to the weight of the dog. The heavier the dog the more that is needed.
Xray plates are charged for each one, so depends on how many are done.
Dental charge will depend on how much work is needed and how long it takes.
While dental work is not often covered why is the xray on the wrist not covered? Is it below the excess on the policy?
Your vet can split the cost between the two procedures.0 -
Don't ever be afraid to ask, many people have to balance budgets these days and the vet will understand :-)SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80
SPC 11 (2018) #4850 -
Hello, I've just had my dog x-rayed due to an injury to his shoulder. He needed four x-rays for that (front and side for each shoulder, so they could have a comparison). With anaesthetic and the appointment etc, in total I paid about £370 on the day (though I'd had two appointments before that as well when he was first limping). My vet gave me an estimate before the procedure which in fairness was slightly over what I actually paid. It's still hugely expensive, mind you. But, this was for four x-rays (think they were about £35 each). Hopefully yours will be less. I've submitted my insurance claim today so really hoping that comes back soon! Good luck and I hope your dog's ok :-)0
