Leaving our dog during the day - advice
Hi, I am looking for some advice on this. Myself & partner have a dog, he's just over a year old. For the first 6 months of his life he was left alone for up to 4 hours at a time, with no issues. We have spent the last 6 months living with my boyfriends parents who have 3 other dogs, so whilst there are periods of time…

Fish mating
Haven't had any 'baby' fish for a few years. Had the pond cleaned earlier this year, frogs and newts were rehomed - though have seen one newt in the pond. Just about to feed the fish early afternoon, when rather than them looking for it - they were too busy mating! The funny thing is, after the clean, not a lot of pond…

Recommendation for dog guard for the car.
I have a lovely whippet cross rescue dog who hates the car. I've tried her with a harness attached to the seatbelt but she's not happy. She managed to get herself out of the harness and jumped through into the front. I wonder if a dog guard would be best so she could be loose in the back of the car, I'd put her beanbag bed…

I have a budget of £300 to buy it so it will be a indoor cat, as I dont want it getting lost or hurt by a car etc... I dont…

Update - Spindle Cell Carcinoma
In case anyone is in a similar situation and searches and stumble on the previous thread and wonders what happened. About 18 months ago I asked the good people of MSE about a dilemma I had about possibly amputating a back leg from one of my dogs. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5102184 In short, 12 year old…

Two cats, both have diarrhea
Might be a bit of a long post, apologies in advance but I want to give all the details. We adopted 2 kittens in Feb this year, 1 male 1 female from different litters but the same rescue shelter, they are about 8-9 months old now. The male had diarrhea which the shelter was aware of when we collected them. 2-3 weeks later…

Itchy Cat
Hi All, I have a cat who has an itching problem, which results in ripping out huge chunks of fur from her bottom. She definitely doesn't have fleas. We've been to the vets multiple times and they have no clue what is causing it. She's had steroid injections, tablets and all sorts of other things. The injections stopped her…

3rd party public liability only pet insurance?
Does anybody know of an insurer that offers pet insurance limited to 3rd party public liability cover without the vet care? For the last few years we have used the Dogs Trust that includes this but on closer study it's not quite as comprehensive as first imagined. Our dog is about 9 years old now and good natured but I'd…

Vet Fees

Dog Insurance
You'd think I'd know what to do by now considering my dog is 9 years old, but I can't decide whether I should opt for lifetime insurance now that she is getting on. If I only go for time limited and something happened, then I have to put any illness down as pre existing, is that right? I've already decided that if…

Picking the runt of the litter..?
We are in the process of getting a puppy, and I just wanted some advice regarding choosing the right one... We saw the litter for the first time when the puppies were just two days old, and then again yesterday when they were two weeks old. It's obviously at a very early stage and difficult to tell how they will turn out,…

Catsan Smartpacks
After at first trying these with an open litter tray and not rating them I'm now using them with a covered tray and am finding them great. Anyone on here who uses them, how often do you change the whole tray? I have read where it can be changed once a week as long as the poo is scooped out daily which I'm doing but I can…
