Frontline Plus

Just a heads up that Frontline Plus (fipronil and S-methoprene) is no longer a POM medication. It's a highly effective flea/tick repellant but I now expect to see claims that it has become ineffective or fleas have become resistant to it etc, which is exactly what happened when Frontline became available off prescription.

It's all poppycox and a load of bunkum just to get you to buy the more expensive, updated flea treatment so the vet can continue to make money out of you.

There's absolutely no scientific evidence that fipronil is ineffective. In most cases it's down to user error and lack of understanding of the flea life cycle, plus failure to treat the environment too.

At least Frontline (fipronil) won't kill or cause extreme neurological problems for your pets, unlike the newer drugs vets are promoting such as Bravecto and Nexgard.

I know someone whose border collie suffered epileptic fits after she used frontline. These recurred for over a year. Yes, her vet confirmed it was the frontline that caused them and the makers did acknowledge this and pay her vet bills.

Frontline plus has never worked for us, although it did give a show cat a permanent bald patch after causing a chemical burn.

We use advantage and find it more effective in this area.

Indorex works here, so thats one plus of moving area!

I have no scientific evidence, but I know Frontline stopped being effective on my pets.

Since changing to Advocate, or occasionally Stronghold, the pets have been flea free for over 10 years.

Frontline also stopped working on my pets and I've never used plus. Advantage works fine. I don't like to treat them with chemicals unless absolutely necessary but a recent retry of Frontline has well & truly shown me it's completely ineffective for my cats & dog. Won't be wasting money on it again.
