Are there any dog breeders in here?
Hi, I am looking for some advice from dog breeders, specifically breeders of large/giant breeds. Is there anyone in here who is willing to chat to me and answer a few questions I may have, please. Or if anyone could point me in the direction of forums, or the like, for dog breeders then that would be great. TIA Mel x

Disinfecting garden?
I've been sitting in my garden today and, in places, it really smells quite strongly of dog wee. It seems to be where he cocks his leg up the fences and I guess the strong sun is making the smell worse. I do wash the garden down regularly and, up to fairly recently, used Jeyes Fluid on it. I read though that it can be…

fined for a poo we did not commit!
6 weeks aog, my husband was issued with a penalty for dog fouling. He refused to accept this as the dog had not fouled (he squats to pee) and as a result he agreed to wait with the warden while the police were called. Despite my husband showing the police officer and the warden that he had several "dog poo" bags in his…

Advice needed please!
Last Saturday we bought a dog from a classifieds ad. It's more of a puppy really - it's either 6 or 7 months old. The guy did not give me a receipt. The dog was being left home alone 14 hours a day, didn't own a toy and hadn't been walked. The following day the dog had a seizure. We took it to the vets first thing Monday…

Memory foam dog beds
Hi there I'm looking at buying my 12.5yr old Staffy a memory foam dog bed to hopefully help her arthritis, as she seems in quite some discomfort (hopefully not pain) often. Does anyone have a good one to recommend? Anything in particular to look for? I know some have waterproof covers but right now she has no bladder or…

Leather furniture - cat proof?
As there have been no comments on my earlier thread regarding microfiber furniture - which is said to be less susceptible to cat damage, I thought I'd try something else. Anyone with a pet cat(s), have leather furniture - sofa/settee etc? How does your cat treat it? Is it ever scratched? Does result in surface marks or…

cat poop on grass
Hi I love cats, however my new neighbour has 2 who spend most of their time outside. The younger one ( not much more than 8 months old and an absolute little sweetheart) has decided that the bottom lawn of our property is where it should poop. It has now got in the habit of it as we did not realise for a while as the…

Aberystwyth area - any dog friendly recommendations?
We've booked a bargain break at a caravan site near Aberystwyth, and as always, the dog is coming along for the adventure. I'm struggling a bit for affordable, dog friendly places we can all visit. There's a dog friendly light railway nearby, but it's £22 per ticket, which is a bit much. Does anyone have any…

Bob Martin- a name you can trust?
I just wanted to share with you an experience my Shar Pei (Eric) had recently after having a Bob Martin worming treatment. I followed the instructions and treated Eric to make sure he was protected. Within 5 hours of his treatment he was violently sick a number of times, he was unable to hold water down, became motionless…

Is this animal cruelty?
Need some opinions...we have today returned from a week's stay at a large holiday park for a week and in a small field outside the park, two horses were chained up. Their chains were short (about 3 - 4ft) and rusty. The horses could move around only with difficulty as their chains kept getting in their way and pulling…

Warning - Sad Message
Hello We lost our wee cat a couple weeks back. She was 6 years old and we found her dead in her bed when we woke up. My OH decided it was best we bury her. I am now having night mares. Did I do something wrong? My OH says it was probably her heart, as they remember the mother dying young, but not of what as it was a friend…

Feeding Eggs to Puppy
We have an 8 week old Cockerpoo puppy and she has got a slight diahorrea problem - we took her to the vet, yesterday - who gave us some "pro-biotic paste" to try to help clear it up My wife fed her a whole scrambled egg for breakfast this morning !! I have read that egg can cause diahorrea - is this the case ? Puppy photos…

Puppy Gate sought
We are looking for a puppy gate for an 80cm doorway They appear to be limited to 79cm width !! The only, wider, ones that I can find have gaps between the bars that are too wide (for babies rather than puppies) The alternative is a freestanding one - that appears to have fixed feet that will mean that the gate, stands out…

Barking Collars
My dog is barking mad, I thought about a barking collar but didn't want one because I thought they shocked the dog. I saw that they do ones that emit a sound now instead. Are these any good and is it cruel in anyway to the dog?

Kitten wee'ing on bed
Hope I can get some good advice here :) We have got an 11 week old kitten. She's good as gold and very good at using her litter tray. However, twice now she has had a wee on my daughter's bed! Both times it has been first thing in the morning, she is kept in the kitchen overnight and I think she gets over-excited when we…

A horrible situation and my lost boy
My husband and I went on holiday and left our two year old boy with his day care sitters. They have had him for a year on the three days I work. Day two of our holiday and I see 10 missed calls on my mobile from her. It seems he was off lead near a major road and was hit by a motorbike. They then didnt take him to the…

So excited!!
Last September I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and since then I've been through chemo etc etc (far too boring to give you the details!) Anyway as I live on my own, with the help of my friend, I had to put my dogs in foster care. The fosterers have been wonderful and kept me in the loop with pictures and videos…

Making chews
Is there a way to make hard chews for a dog. Mine chew them for hours, as they are little dogs, and keeps them busy when I need to get something done. But, I don't think they are very good for goods and they certainly are cheap. Is there a cheap way to make something like them that is also better for the dog?
