Did my old mortgage have ppi?
Hi. My wife and I took out a Yorkshire Building Society mortgage in joint names in 1986. It has long since been payed off (by remortgage) but I was wondering if PPI was sold back then and, if so, might we have been sold a PPI policy.

Writing Off Your Mortgage?
An advert came on the radio about writing off up to 70% off your mortgage. The company is called 'Ease Your Mortgage' so I looked online as was curious. Apparently some lenders sell on your mortgage to another investor and do not change the name legally on your title deed, therefore meaning you can write off some of what…

Council Tax -Single occupancy discount
Dear users, My told my council that I did not live in my renting property for about 14 months and now they said I could not claim single occupancy discount for this period. I have to pay full rate instead. I find this very unreasonable. When I actually live in the property and use the council services, I pay a cheaper rate…

Ombudsman need ex wife signature
In 2004 I remortgaged with my ( then) wife but was told that i had to take out ppi or we would not get the mortgage ( Even though I had income protection insurance already in place which would have been more than adequate). The mortgage was in joint names. I was the only person insured under the ppi policy. I made all…

PPI on our mortgage
we had a mortgage with the Halifax from 1991 for 20 odd years and put a claim in for PPI. We had a letter today saying our complaint was now closed because their records don't show we took out a policy! We have no records to prove otherwise but the Halifax had made us pay for insurance despite me saying at the time, my…

Council Tex xonfusion
Hi Until my partner moved in 26th August weekend I was claiming 25% single persons discount. I'm self employed so keen to ensure I'm always legal etc. Anyway, I informed the council he moved in and to remove my discount, only now it seems they've calculated the remaining payments as though I've never had the discount. My…

Virgin Mobile Contract overpayment issue
Hi all, As you all probably remember, a few weeks ago it was in the news that customers were being overcharged by their mobile phone providers. The grounds for this overcharging was that after your minimum term for example 24 months your handset should have been paid off as the price figured in the cost of the handset and…

Backdating Council Tax Exemption Severely Mentally Impaired Effect on other benefits
I have worked out that a family member is entitled to an exemption on their Council Tax due them being severely mentally umpired. We visited the GP who signed the form from the local council. I have not sent this back yet. However, we are concerned that a backdating request for the exemption (i.e. they pay back council tax…

I used a car park at Exeter Sandy Park for a 3.5 hour parking whilst at a conference. I made a mistake and paid for 2 days parking at £18.50 using a debit card. Hi all, wondering if you can help advise on a friends question? .. About 12 years ago my council banding was reduced from E to D. 6 years ago I rang the council tax office to ask if I could receive a refund of overpayment back to 1991 and was told absolutely no rebate would be paid to me. Mortgate protection question
I am so confused by all this, so huge apologies if I am repeating what others have asked before. When we got our mortgage from Bairstow Eves, we were told we had to take out payment protection via Legal & General so that if anything happened to us our mortgage would still be paid. It has since occurred to us that because…
