Meal plans WB 17th October
This week went a bit hit and miss over the weekend! Pregnant woman whims and all that, but after a revamp I managed to get us back on track... NB. I have Insulin Resistance and therefore eat a Low Gi/GL diet, so sometimes the boys eat different or altered meals (I don’t want people to think I cater for fussy eaters!)…

Biscuits which will last/travel well
Hi all, I'm a bit of a lurker around these parts, and normally find everything I could ever wish by simply observing, but now comes the time for a question! My OH is overseas at the mo and I like to send him stuff to cheer him up (and let him know I'm still functioning!). So far I've sent a couple of batches of Anzac…

Where to shop?
I am trying to cut back on food shopping. It's not the food that is the issue but the place I shop and how often. I have bipolar disorder and part of that can make me feel really scared to go out alone :( I do a big shop on ASDA once a month online , and in an ideal world I'd stock up on what I've run out of (fruit, veg ,…

Soup recipes?
I know there's some in the old style recipe thread but I couldn't find anything that I liked the sound of! My normal style of making soup is to boil up some veg until it's crushable, then mash it and add stock. However this time I fancy making something a bit more exotic! Currently in my cupboard I have: - Potatoes - Sweet…

Your wise words...
I am posting this because I would really appreciate a bit of help. My mum passed away suddenly earlier in the year and as I'm sure you can imagine, my life got turned upside down. I am grieving but starting to push on with life and get my moneysaving lifestyle back on track. I let myself have the odd treat to try and bring…

Lyod Grossman jar of chilli sauce.
I've been given a couple of these to use up. I have just used one and it's yuck! What can I do to improve it? It's seems to be too sweet and has enough chilli heat not sure what to add to alter this. When we are so used to making our own it makes you wonder what they add to processed food to make it last.

Ideas for storing large amounts of spices
Now that the OH and I have become OS and started making our own curries, rather than ordering take aways, we have discovered a local Asian shop that sells herbs and spices at really cheap prices, but in larger than usual packs. The box that I used to keep all the supermarket size jars in has now overflowed, and I need to…

I already keep lots of baking ingredients in and the usual rice, pasta etc. What I'm aiming for is to make more meals from scratch without using store bought jars of sauce etc. I would be really grateful if you could tell me what you keep…

Hot drink stain on formica/mdf
We're moving house, we've a few odds and ends to fix up in our rented house here. The LL wrote us such a lovely referall, I really would like to do my best to fix these few things. Despite my nagging and warning DD put a hot drink down on the dresser/wardrobe unit thats built into her bedroom. I'm not exactly sure of the…

Can I pick your brains please?!
Hello people, (Firstly, if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move - I just come on the OS site a lot as I care about food and cost etc) How much have you ever thought about where your mushrooms come from? OH and I are thinking of setting up a bit of a commercial mushroom farm as we think there is a gap in the market…
