Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th October

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all!

    Its dark and cold brrr

But coddy (ds1) is up and being forced to do his French homework, that he had told me he's finished ages ago.

Snips (ds2) is still in bed, he's only in year 3 so no need for him to be up yet.

Didn't get an ounce of sleep, got woken up 2:30am by OH snoring and people and cars going mad arghhhhh
Got a meeting today as well bleurghhh

Thanks for the idea monogran. I found another recipe for Jamaican cows foot curry. Its like a broth.

, i would keep an eye on him, my youngest is 7 years old and i fought for 4 years for speech therapy and grommets. It was only when i got the school nurse involved was anything actually done. It was a total nightmare. I know your son's two and a half and he'll probably grow out of it, its just that not all children do. Snips was discharged back in June , due to funding cut back, but he improved dramatically with the therapy.

Apart from the meeting and yawning very loudly not sure what else is happening today. Apart from making tandoori chicken and tikka masala with salad.

Good Morning kezlou and all who follow, dark as hades outside my window this morning again but quite mild.I have a huge ironing mountain to attack this morning .all this blowy, sunny days has made me find washing to do and put away before it gets too cold .Most of my summer bits have gone away for the winter and I have been digging out wintery stuff.(some of which I am delighted to say is a little on the big side at the moment )
I bought my grandson his 21st birthday present yesterday it was a little expensive but hey your only 21 once .I have got him an Ultimate Driving Experience from WH Smiths. It's a choice of one of thirty days out where he can have the option of driving anything from a Mini-Cooper to a Tank, with various things inbetween. He is such a good hardwoking lad and I know he will have a great day out that he will remember when he is a granddad himself.I wanted to give him a wonderful memory of his 'special' birthday .He's got a decent watch, and he also has his Granddad's 3 stone diamond ring so jewellrey was out.So I racked my little grey cells and decided that a special day out was the next best thing. When I told my smaller grandchildren what I had bought their cousin they were really excited Henry said he would choose the Tank,as he is 10 I could see why,the other grandson Jack said he would have the sports car. They are now planning their 21st's which is quite a long way off at the moment :):)
Well time to get a wriggle on and jump in the shower and have some breakfast Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing
    Cheers chums JackieO xx
P.S.Lungs seem to be clear of clots which is good but I have to see my own Dr. today at some point to get some meds sorted out

Hubby's been dropped off at the station with his pack up, fish fed, rubbish & recyling out ready for collection. The roofers are starting on the repairs today so I've left my side gate open.
Fish pie for tea tonight made from 3 pieces of pollack from the freezer, parsly sauce made with HG parsley, topped with a portion af HM potato dauphoise also from the freezer.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    jackieo, lovely present :)

Morning all, feeling the cold sooo badly again today. It's 17c but i'm dressed like an eskimo but shivering my !!!! off. Today is my "long day" at work and I know it's going to be horrible as there is so much tension and ACAS(think that's it) is being mentioned. Bullying, threats, gossiping erg... but it's not the lazy people who've done more than enough to be sacked it's unfair on, it's the rest of us who work like dogs in fear for our jobs!!!! Grrr. I'm bringing some calming hm chicken soup in for lunch :p:
Tonight is something HM frozen as I am batch cooked out- i've run out of tupperware  Chore bits were done at the weekend so I get to devote my evening to my dissertation.

    Eighth Anniversary
    Morning everyone,

WM is nearly finished and I will be pegging it out in the dark soon.
Got to take my car in for its annual service and MOT today, fingers crossed it will be ok, it is only 8 years old.

Kids are making their own packed lunches now and DS is in a mood with me as we have run out of the "right sort of bread", he can buy his own in future!

Tea tonight will be fish as I really fancy some salmon, the kids can have pasta as they are not keen on fish.

Hugs to all that need them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

I was actually thinking of you when I just watched the TV programme. I know your son is in the army so you must really be relieved x

I am just waking up as was in bed late. Poor Mooloo had a bit of drama to contend with so I went with my DD to sit with DGD.

No plans as such today as I have my treatment tomorrow at the The National in London. Hugs and I will be back later xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone

Cloudy and chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night finished up being gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash and peas - DH and the boys had haircuts so dinner was at 7pm, whilst hairdresser was here we booked the Xmas appointment - ohh scary it's not so far way!!

Dinner tonight will be quickies as DS1 has rugby training. Managed to get a line of washing dry yesterday. Have now turned the heating on, but am on having it on for an hour or so then turning it off. Yesterday was very quiet for a Monday so wondering what today will bring - we don't get many quiet days so today could be a nightmare!! Have put a few items on ebay as it was a free listing weekend, have watchers on a couple so will have to see how they go.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

    nmlc x
