Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 17th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone,

Thought I'd start the thread as I'm now wide awake. I've had more of my OH's lovely pasta and pesto, though it was slightly less of a romantic gesture this time and more of a peace offering as he woke me up by setting the fire alarm off! He also woke the neighbours up as we have the same alarm system. Will have to apologise later on, I suppose. Then again, giving them a taste of their own medicine for many late night parties and TV marathons right over my head was very satisfying, even if it was accidental. :D

I'm going back to sleep now as I need to be up in 3 hours ( ) for uni. Bit early for any OS, might have to get back to you later with that. :D Wish me luck getting back to sleep after that racket!

  • Good morning ghostmadlittlemiss and to all that follow.
It's a bit chilly here today but we don't have a frost, well what i can see anyway. Still very dark.
Have just got stew on the go in the sc, will get dumplings in when i get home from work. Was quite pleased with myself as stripped the chicken yesterday and made the filling for chicken and vegetable pie, another meal for the week. Funds are still limited at the moment. Thank goodness it's pay day for me tomorrow.
Have got to put washing on the airer and take the dog out for a walk, so i had better hurry up.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

morning ghostmadlittlemiss and forever saving and jackie o :)

Its cold and dark this morning, can't see any little animals this morning, even the nippers are only just waking up!

Had a gorgeous weekend, the sun was shining and it was warm! Highly recommend ingleton falls, the walks amazing, it had rained a lot in the past few days which made the view spectacular. Then fireworks all round for the centenary celebrations.

Well back to the grindstone today. Going to make a huge pan of mince mix, strip a cooked chicken, bread and make chicken wing curry for tea.
Also need to write letters and sort the pit out i.e the house.

Yes i went a bit mad at a the butchers yesterday :o.
Oh does anyone know what to do with cows feet? They look quite big and the butchers were selling them for £2.49 each.

ANyways hope ypur all well and a good day is calling.(fingers crossed)

  • Morning all, before and after!

I can hear the wind gusting outside but haven't looked out yet as it's still pitch dark. Plus if I look out of the curtains the boys will think they're getting out and come running! They don't get out to play till the street lights go off and are feeling rather hard done by as this is later and later at this time of year.

Today's plan is to get the house ready for the cleaner's visit tomorrow and think about emptying the car so it can go to the garage. I also need to do a pet-sitting job later on and then go to my Rosemary Conley class. I've been eating a whole lot of !!!! and know I won't like what I see on the scales ...

Hope everyone has a good, OS day :)

    Good Morning x

Putting my grumpy weekend behind me. I think that it had all got to me and my family and we spent the whole weekend growling at each other !!

Anyway feeling more positive this morning and determined to get back on the OS wagon as I really could not have cared less this weekend. I did however have a shout at the kids as I needed help with cleaning and no-one was listening as yes, you've guessed it, no cleaner again this week (i have MUG written across my forehead)!

I had an Osteopathy appointment on Friday as my back is bad (years in awkward positions as a Midwife - IYKWIM) and i have the biggest bruise spreading all over my lower back. Now Im sure that is not right and Im going to show it to my GP when I see her later. Im hoping she will be her usual supportive self as regards writing the letter. However I know that it is probably a no-go as it is all down to the politics of money!!!!

Hugs to those who need one and you really are a lovely bunch of people xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Morning again,

Can't help but laugh, the radio kicked in and the first advert was for checking your smoke alarm. Got that covered! :rotfl: Best get a move on, if I'm quick enough, I might be able to do porridge before I have to go.

Frost on the car this morning.
I'm trying to cut my food bill down so I can buy my DD some food every week, they are struggling as her hubby's arthritis has flared up & he is on short pay.
Today I'm taking her a sliced loaf, a packet of crumpets, both reduced, 4 bananas, 2 apples, 4 satsumas this is half the fruit box & had delivered by the same man who delivers eggs to me fortnightly, ltr of milk & a doz eggs, I have 3 doz delivered once a fortnight. It's only about £5 worth, but it should help a bit.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Just been pegging out the washing in the dark, the neighbours must think that I am mad!

Packed lunches are made and kids are getting ready for school, it will be a shock for DS after his easy week on work experience last week.

Sausages for tea tonight, something easy before DD2's netball.

Hugs to all that need them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone

Clear but chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Yesterday was taken up with Rugby as DS1's game had a late kick off, so we didn't get home until 2pm having left the house at 9.45am, cooked a lovely roast chicken, roasties, mash, cauli/broccolli cheese, carrots, yorkshires and gravy - at tea time, so whilst that was cooking I managed to get pack-ups done, ironing done - so once we'd eaten and cleared the dirties there was nothing else to be done - bliss!!

Managed Sat afternoon to get some bits on ebay - have 1 watcher so far. DH spent some of yesterday finishing my greenhouse but now just has to sort out the base, we have the slabs but they are too heavy for DH to lift on his own, so friend is coming next Sat to help him with those and hopefully it can then be secured and will be usable. Work today - have long day today and tomorrow then half day Wednesday - only working next Monday then have the rest of the week off.

Need to go and crack on.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.
