DG Ivar Baffle Plate Position
Hi All. We've had a multifuel Ivar since last December and have just started using it again. During a fire the baffle plate fell down and my husband had to hurriedly put it back up as best he could. We're not sure whether there should be a gap at the back of the stove, or a gap at the top/front of the stove. Should it be…

Changing from bulk LPG to Oil?
We are on bulk LPG at the moment, but whilst looking for a way to heat our very big north facing kitchen with no heating (not looking forward to doing dinner tonight!) and thinking about a solid fuel something I got talking to a local oil installer (who also sometimes has reconditioned solid fuel ranges) and he is trying…

Fireplace / Stove question. Lacking heat!
I recently moved into a house that has a working wood burner/multi fuel stove. It's the first time I've had a wood burner/stove/multi fuel and I'm unsure how to use it efficiently. It's unlike conventional stoves that I see (it's all metal with no glass doors). The heat output has so far been uninspiring and I was hoping…

LPG Gas meter calculator ?????
Hi, just wanted to see if i have the right calculation for working out my bills. I have LPG gas delivered in liters & the gas from the tank pass's through a gas meter that reads in cubic meters of vapor that works out to be 1ltr=3.85cmv. We pay 32p per ltr, so is: 1cmv X 3.85 X 32p = £1.23per cmv Is this correct?? Thanks…

Confused about the best water temperature for Radiators
I have a wood pellet stove that heats water for my radiators and I'm wondering what the best water output temperature is. I've read a few items on the subject and the opinions seem to range from about 65 - 70 Deg C. My system is a mix of new and fairly old steel radiators, what I read from looking at EN 442 is that the…

Storage heater or oil filled radiator during nightime?
I have two storage heaters that come on in the night during E7 times, but they barely heat up the flat. I also have two plug in electric oil radiators that actually heat up the rooms noticably. What I'm wondering is how much of a money difference would it be if I used a timer plug for the oil radiators to come on in place…

Is my central heating system using any gas for on-demand heating this way?
At this time of year, when the need for my central heating to be on depends on what kind of (weather) day it is, we have been turning the room thermostat off the scale at the low end when the temperature is OK. I have been trying unsuccessfully to ascertain on-line, if using this setting I am consuming any gas at all for…

PC usage
Hello Can I ask, please, how much roughly - either in money terms or KWh - a PC uses if it is on 24/7? There is no printer or scanner or anything else attached that may use extra energy - just the PC tower and (wide) screen. A rough estimate would be fine, thanks!

Oil storage tank
My 1100 ltr single skinned plastic oil tank is approximately 10 years old. The tank has developed three slits about 3- 4 in long on the top of the tank - so no leakage. My plumber tells me I need a new bunded tank. My questions are - does it have to be a bunded tank (single skin tanks are still on sale) ? Is it practical…
