fire brick placed on baffle plate

I have a Dunsley Highlander 5 multiburner, and i noticed on the enviroburn model they place a firebrick on the the baffle plate . I had a spare firebrick and placed one on my baffle plate even though it originally didnt have one and i wanted to know if someone knew if this would also improve efficiency or was nor advisable.
?
Cant find this information anywhere it seems.

  • Just had a look at the Enviroburn manual and by the looks of it, the top firebrick IS the baffle plate - what they refer to as the throat brick. This is forming the baffle plate rather than sitting on top of a metal one.
  • Hmm I was sure I had seen a firebrick placed on top of a metal throat/baffle plate, and thus distributing the heat into the stove better than up the chimney. So I thought I could putna fire brick on top of my metal baffle plate. Does anyone know if this logic stands True or will just shorten the life of my plate?

If you look at how your stove operates, you'll find that the hot gases flow up and over the baffle plate and can often still be combusting. Reducing the amount of space between the baffle plate and the top of the firebox will restrict the flow of gases and could even disrupt the combustion in the top of the firebox.

Sticking a firebrick on top of the baffle plate is probably not a good idea even if there is space.
