I have been given beech a tree already felled. The trunk is 4 cubic metres,Easy to calculate the volume as its a straight trunk.
When cut into rounds(about 6" wide) what would the likely volume be and when the rounds are split into usable logs what is the volume likely to be
Theres a lot of information on various web sites about the volume differences between loose and stacked logs (the latter being at least 20% less in volume) but I cant find anything about volume further up the chain or tree as it were.
