How to tell if your heating oil tank has been filled as stated
Hello, I am completely new to having to use Heating Oil for my home - our tank has just been filled on an auto fill set up with our supplier, I had a look inside the tank and it only looks to be just above half full. It is at least one foot from the top - is this normal? Or should it be full to the top when they fill the…

Central Heating System
Hi I have a conventional heating system with cold water tank in loft, hot water cylinder in airing cupboard and open fire back boiler. I hope to replace the oil boiler at some point as it’s on the old side but could i replace this with a combi boiler even with the back boiler? I could also think about gas but i have no…

Painting over radiator foil
Hi everyone, I was wondering if you can paint over radiator foil (you know, the aluminium kind of foil you put behind radiators to reflect the heat back to the room). I googled this, but google only came up with sites about painting your radiator, not about the foil. Would this impact the reflective properties of the foil?…

I live in an old listed cottage & the living room ( back of room the wall is below ground) & only north facing room, the bathroom take HOURS…

£548 bill reasonable for all electric?
Hi I’ve just received a three and half month bill for the above amount. I have an all electric property and heating is Electric Warm Air via a central storage heater on E10. Hot water is immersion that I run for 30mins-1hr a day. Works out about £145 a month. Just wondering if this is about right for winter usage.

Cheap Energy Club Problem
Just a word of warning, I am with Outfox the Market for electricity and on the Zapp Tariff. When I initially entered the Tarif information early last year, it recorded 9p KW unit rate and 22p day rate. Unfortunately when I did the comparison today , the Cheap Energy Club calculator still shows the old rates for comparison…

Converting RHT meter from eon to a plug socket
Hello, I have a flat, 1 bedroom that has electricity only. There's no option for gas in the flats. I currently have an old underfloor heating system that takes 3/4 hours to heat up which I think is 5kw. This runs on a separate RHT meter, the RHT meter gives me a reduced rate for around 14 hours a day. The cost of this rate…

Heat Logs, Bricks, Briquettes 2018
Just wanted to get the views and thoughts of the supermarkets and similar stores offerings this winter. On the weekend I stocked up with some KINGS Heat logs from Home Bargains for £2.99 for a pack of 6. My view on these are they seem similar to the Aldi heat logs sold last winter, the six logs in a pack are too big for my…

New house - Baxi boiler not serviced
Hello We have recently moved into our new house, where we were told our boiler had a 7 year warranty. However, the boiler hasn't been serviced since it was installed (17/4/2016) We called Baxi and they told us that because it had not been serviced the warranty was void. The boilers pressure keeps dropping so we're having…

EON energy chasing old payment
Hi all, Between 2012-2014 when I was a student I was renting a house with some friends and our contract stated that we were not responsible for any of our utility bills and that this was all to be paid by our landlord. Shortly after leaving the property in 2014, which EON knew we were no longer there, I received a letter…

Problems with HHR storage heaters
Hi I have recently had my meter changed to economy 7 tariff and had high heat retention storage heaters (Elnur) installed. The digital display only comes on during off peak house (after midnight) and during the day this is off so the thermostat and setting controls cannot be used. I have tried to charge the heat up when it…

Ovo Energy Homeplan
Has anyone got recent experiences with Ovo Energy's CORGI HomePlan? On the face of it, it beats British Gas Homecare products by a country mile for very much the same service. Is it too good to be true.

Lounge radiator won't come on unless I turn on the hall radiator - why?
Edit: Hoping this is the right forum, wasn't really sure. Just started using central heating again since the weekend. I only ever heat the lounge and bathroom but neither of them want to come on unless I turn on the one in the hall. I never needed to do that last winter or the one before that. If I do leave the hall…
