14MW turbine would power a Tesla Model 3 for 218 miles
"We've worked out that a single turn of a 14MW turbine would power a Tesla Model 3 for 352km (218 miles)," Is this true? That would be like generating three gallons of diesel power. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58704792 How many turns would a 14MW turbine make in a year?

Best options for real time solar export monitoring
So install hopefully happening next Friday, delayed a week as inverter out of stock. :'( I was thinking about best way of tracking solar usage, it will be a SolarEdge inverter so I believe I'll easily be able to monitor my generation via the app and can get that imported into Home Assistant but I assume the inverter has no…

solar panels
Hello, I'm new here. I've been quoted £11500 for a 3.6kwp system including Suntech Monocrystalline panels and a 5.8kw battery. The promised return seems too good to be true (payback in 7.5 years) so I'm thinking it must be. Any comments welcome

Low Elec Usage - Should I consider Solar Panels?
Hi all, Over the last week I've been researching in having PV solar panels installed now since WFH permanently. My usage is very low at 1100 kWh a year (2 bed semi detached, only 1 person in property in Midlands). Roof at front faces East, and back faces West. I'm thinking 6 x 250w panels should be placed as 3 on front…

RADFLEK: Reflective radiator back
Quite surprised this isn't a better known energy saving product. It reflects wasted energy from the radiator rear to the the front. It's extremely low cost so should pay for itself very quickly. Just ordered a set but thought I'd ask if anyone had any hands on experience?…

Will my bill go up?
I am currently on a “green” tariff for my electricity, I don’t have gas. My question is, if all the electricity I use is from renewable sources, as stated by my supplier, will my bill go up as, in theory at least, the gas price rise shouldn’t affect my supply? Any thoughts/info?

Solar Panels - energy price hikes making them more worthwhile?
re-posting here for more views originally posted in 'energy' ... We are lucky enough to live in an old house in the Scottish countryside (5bed, 3 reception) and as with many rural properties we aren't on the gas network. The people before us installed a GSHP for the heating and hot water, but they didn't install much in…

Will solar panels save us money?
Hi i’m reposting in this thread after positing in the energy area, as a few people said this is the place to get more advice! My 80 year old parents own a semi detached 3bed house and use c. 4500 kwh electricity / yr. They have been quoted for solar PV panels that should give them more energy than they use on average per…

Bulb vs. Octopus import tariffs
I was surprised to see such a substantial difference in “green” tariffs! I’ll let the screen grabs do the talking but the post code and annual usage are the same. Safe to say, I won’t be switching to Octopus till things calm down.

Free Solar Panels Issue
Hi all, I received details earlier this year about a local scheme where E.on and my local council supply and install solar panels and a battery. The surveyor came out in May this year and checked my property. I have a two bedroom semi detached bungalow with good insulation. I have a new hot water cylinder on a timer and my…

Dumb meters and solar
Is it the home owners responsility to ensure that smart meters are installed before the fitting of PV? I've put off my installation until I can get smart meters fitted, but as long as I've told the supplier I'm getting PV is the ball then in their court to get them fitted so they can bill me correctly? I suppose there…

Change of Ownership of FIT on new property
Hi, I have taken the keys to my new house and inherited the solar panels in the sale, in terms of the FIT and being paid for that unfortunately he never filled out the EDF form to change that over to myself - how would I go about moving this over to myself? I cant find any details on how to do this

Smarter Homes unsolicited phone call
I've just had a call on our landline from a "Mr Watson" at "Smarter Homes" (I only have his word on both those points) trying to convince me to have my solar panels inspected for safety and efficiency. I've no prior relationship with Smarter Homes (despite Mr Watson claiming otherwise) so I can only assume this was leading…

Solar panels maybe with battery
Hi all, I'm about to move house this week and one of the first things I'm looking to do is get some solar panels fitted. From what I can gather I should have about 20m2 (squared) on a South southwest facing roof. So roughly 10 panels I'd be hoping for. I currently only use around 2500kwh per year. I live in East Sussex.…

G99 process
Does any one have experience with how long the approval for G99 takes with UK Power networks and what sort of cost is involved, if any? This would be for 6.6KW solar panel and possibly 4.8KW battery install

Help for a newbie
Advice or user experience please? I am looking at buying 15 solar panels for my roof with inverter and battery storage. I am being told the lux hybrid inverter is one of the best; is this true? Any user experience? Are Uhome batteries ok? Any user experience? Quoted price is circa £9k fitted for the 15 panels, 7.2kw…

Solar panel quote East Anglia
Finally getting the ball rolling on installing panels. My roof is a bit odd https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6286173/roof-orientation-and-panels I have had one company out and they have suggested 7 x 340W panels, split at 3 and 4 panels, along with inverter. They have quoted me £ 4300. This to me sounds…

New PV system (dormer windows)
Hi all, I recently moved house and whilst my roof faces more or less directly south, I wanted to ask about anyone's experience with dormer windows, how much is lost because of the shade that they cast over the roof....my last house had 16 panels which were 1.65m x 1m and I'm thinking at best I could get would be maybe 12…
