Wanted: Alternative 2 scourers sponges
What have you used or would recommend to replace these scourer sponges? Anything biodegradable and/or plastic etc that is very long lasting. The photographed sponges just end up thrown away as they don’t last; but they do the cleaning job perfectly. I’ve tried loafer and they are no good as they don’t scrub and can’t reach…

One Reason I Don't Like Nuclear Energy
"analysts and others have issued inaccurate estimates of the levelized costs of electricity (LCOE) for coal, natural gas and hydro power plants which are used to direct trillions in investment, creating a growing global financial bubble around conventional power plants with dynamics that are similar to the subprime…

Goverment Green Homes Scheme
hi, Newbie here so not sure if I have put this post in the correct category. I applied for a primar and secondary installation after seeing the scheme on MSE TV programme back in September and am wondering if anyone has received their vouchers yet. I used contractors off the govt website but have been told this week that…

How to handle solar 'salvage'?
Hello, Some buildings near me have been bought by the council and are scheduled for dereliction. They have nominally agreed to let me take the panels for a local school solar project, however, there are two main issues that we need to resolve: * Liability for any issues resulting from the use of the panels. * Fulfilling…

Microwave-powered home boiler
I haven't heard of these before, sounds interesting. The boiler uses electricity to heat water which can then be pumped through existing radiators and to taps and showers and baths. The company, Heat Wayv, is building prototypes and expects to trial the boilers in homes by the end of 2022, with the first sales to customers…

Using Far Too Much Water
Hi My shower runs off of my condenser boiler. The water comes out really quickly and I have started leaving the plug in the bath to see how much water I was using. I used almost as much as if I was having a bath! I don't think I'm in the shower overly long. I do have a large shower head and the water comes out very fast.…

Does anyone have "Sunny Webbox assistant software" (sorted but cannot delete post.)
Hi I recently logged on to Sunny Explorer and was forced to change the default password which was 0000 for user and 1111 for installer. Not a problem so I changed them but now my Sunny Webbox will no longer communicate with my SMA Sunny portal. The Webbox default passwords are also 0000 and 1111 so I'm guessing that these…

Green homes grant help please!
Hi there! Can anyone tell me how the green homes grant works because I'm a bit confused. I own a house and I'm also entitled to universal credit so I'm guessing that I meet the eligibility requirements but I'm not sure what to do from there onwards. Do I find someone I know that does solar thermal work or does the service…

Weather/load compensating controls
Hi folksLooking to reduce my gas consumption and not read for a heat pump yet (boiler only 3 years old). We have a Vaillant ecotec, just for the heating now as our hot water switched to electric. We currently control with our Nest which is helpful for operating remotely and keeping heating off when we are out. We've turned…

Please check my parents Solar plans
I'm hoping the MSE hive mind can do it's thing and check my parents solar plans. I confess to not knowing much about the market or technology. But a quick google of their proposed new supplier Social Energy linked them to an installer with a poor record of over promising and under delivering and over charging - Project…

Bulb Energy raises their SEG tariff
If you missed the FIT incentive, you're pretty much stuck with the SEG tariff. Recently, Octopus tag teamed with Tesla to launch an impressive tariff of 11p for those with a power wall. For the rest of us, Bulb's new tariff comes very close to the highest fixed rate available, besting Octopus's outgoing fixed rate of 5.5p.…

Luxpower monitor web dashboard !!
Hi, all Luxpower monitor users, as someone that is relatively new to this I have a few questions about what I see on the webpage dashboard about my Solar PV, Battery, Grid and my consumption numbers. Anyone looking for a possible cheap 10 panel solar set up ?
Hi All, Firstly, I have no connection to the seller of this package, I want to make that clear. Secondly, if I am breaking any rules by posting this then sorry moderators please remove this thread. My motivation is purely to let others here know about an ad I have just spotted on Gumtree that may save someone some money.…

Project Solar Quote Advice
Hey Guys I was scrolling through facebook when I came across an ad from Project Solar. I just had a rep come around this evening and gave me a quote for £12.9k. Weve got a detached house and the rep said we could get the maximum number of panels allowed on there (generating 5.6kwp?). She estimated we would generate £65…

Still trying to make the numbers work for a heat pump
Our deemed heat usage on the EPC is about 13k heat and 2.5k hot water. Our actual usage (high efficiency Gas boiler) is about 17k heat (we heat 24/7) and 14k hot water (we like to keep clean). This means that what we can get form the RHI is much lower than the cost of installing a GSHP or ASHP. However we can probably get…
