Octopus will let you join them on the price cap if you give them a call.

    That's likely your best bet.
  • Hi Thanks for all your replies. Is 820 Kwh too high for a normal user? We are in a 1 bhk apartment and we dont keep the heater on for the entire night. Also we use dishwasher and washing machine.
  • That does seem very high for a one bedroom apartment. It obviously depends a lot on the construction and how warm your neighbours keep their apartments, what floor you are on etc.

I would say that the vast majority of your energy is probably being used for heat. If you can keep all the doors shut and only heat the main living room during the day, that will help a lot. We have stopped heating the bedrooms entirely now.

If its electric heat are you on E7 with Night storage heaters that heat in the night on cheaper power and release it in the day? Not sure if Ecotricity have an E7 tariff so you will have to move if they don't.

23.4 units a day is low for an electric heated flat, you must be cold? If the is a hot water tank that should use around 7kwh a night, leaving 16.4 kwh for heat and everything else.
How many Sq feet is it?

820 kWh isn't low - but it is winter and should be much lower in summer and a lot depends on how large or well insulated the flat is.  And how much you value a warm flat compared to high bills.

Discounting 7 for hot water, 3 x 2kwh heaters on for 2 hrs would be 12kwh, 4kwh for everything else, so its well insulated, Or they use little water, or its a little cold.

    Find an energy certificate.

I agree with the other posters, 820kWh for one winter month is relatively low. Other posts have people in one bed apartments using considerably more than that.
The worst of the winter is behind is and your electricity use should start falling now.
