Where does the solar energy go?

I have a new solar panel install with an Iboost. I don't yet have my g99 form as it is being processed. Installer didn't get on to it so I had to chase. So this means I am not exporting to an energy company yet as I need the g99 to apply for the tarrif. My question is: once the iboost has heated my hot water, and I am generating energy I am not using, where does that energy go?
Did I mention I got a 'U' in GCSE Physics?

It goes into the grid but until you have a SEG contract you won't get paid for it.

It goes into the grid, your iboost has a second output which can be wired up to a basic oil fired radiator to use the excess excess if you see what i mean.
Other than that use the energy when it is generated, i use oil fired radiators and turn down my gas heating.

You mean oil-filled; oil-fired radiators are completely different!

If the system is switched on, then any spare power is being exported to the grid.

The inverter has no idea whether or not you have filled in a form yet.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
