Artificial Grass - Weed Membrane
Hi all, I've seen some articles with very differing opinions on whether the weed membrane should be underneath the sub-base of MOT type 1 and sand/granite or whether this should be laid on top directly underneath the grass... any suggestions from your own experiences? Thanks!

Keeping plants in Loft
We do have a reasonably good amount of space in the loft(which is boarded). I have a few chilli plants and have grow lights (from my old marine fish tank). I'm considering leaving them in the loft and running a reverse lighting cycle work (Electric is cheaper at night). The loft is well-ventilated. Has anyone experimented?…

Bugs on Red Robin
Bought a small Red Robin shrub last year that is only just growing a bit but have just noticed there are bugs on new leaves. I noticed the new leaves were really curling instead of opening up and (when I put my specs on) could see tiny black affid like bugs on the clumps of new leaves. Also ants. Am I right in thinking…

Anthurium’s leaves are turning yellow underneath
My anthurium’s leaves are turning yellow look like rust. Anybody knows why? It’s underneath the leaves which are changing colour and do not look healthy. They might need repotting but it is hard to find bigger pot. Thanks

Plant ID help needed
I sowed some gem lettuce at the start of the season but one plant looks distinctly different to the rest. I'm guessing a rogue seed got into the packet somehow. It has long stalks with hand-sized leaves, anyone know what this is?

Clematis killer
Hi all, In 2020 I purchased and planted 3 x different Clematis plants - actually this collection Spring Clematis Collection - JParkers in different beds - one on a different side of the garden. They grew really well for the last 2 years and are all pretty big - more than 2m across. They are now, all 3, dead. Deceased.…

Any seed sales on at Wilco or elsewhere?
Have I missed the Wilko seed sell off when they reduce down to really low prices? My local is about 5 miles away so don’t really want to make a special trip unless they’re really cheap.

Which plants, for a large planter?
You will have seen the type of planter, large square plastic one that they have in shopping areas. Presently they contain mostly ever greens. The wrong thing, I believe. They are very low maintenance, but I want more colour. A few geraniums in the middle, surrounded by pansies perhaps?

Fence Vs hedge
There seems to be a trend towards concrete n wood fences. As this is a money saving site, which is cheapest, in the long run? Despite hedges needed cutting, surely they must be more environmentally friendly. My front wooden fence was fitted by the council nine years ago, still ok, but I don't expect it to last more than a…

Garden Pond Liner Quest.
So, I'm looking for a good quality pond liner. Having done some research, it seems the best type is currently RPE (Reinforced Polyethylene). However, I can't find a supplier of that type in the UK. All my searches bring up USA suppliers. Has anyone come across this for sale in the UK? The next best quality seems to be…

Changing my lawn to a shingle/pebble area?
My smallish back garden faces due south so in summer fades badly as I don't water the lawn. The area is about 12 yards by 8 yards, so not big. The lawn when it has enough water frames the surrounding small borders nicely but for the last few summers not looking too good as the summers progress. I'm now in my late 70's,…

Swallows making a huge mess
Swallows decided to nest in my back porch this year. I can’t think why because it seems like a dreadful location for raising a family. Both me and the cat are in and out of the back door regularly throughout the day, which makes the swallows start dive-bombing us. The nest isn’t very high up either. I use the porch for…

Roses - help with blackspot
We have had six different coloured miniature rose bushes in our garden for about 20 years. For the past four or five years we have been plagued with blackspot. We went on holiday for three weeks a couple of years ago and returned to twigs rather than bushes! I have tried to do what I think is right by removing any infected…

Garden Vac/Blower
I am considering buying one of these but would appreciate some advice/real life experience first please. My particular situation is that we have a hedge that runs alongside a garden area which consists of decorative aggregate (not gravel, but stones about 20-25mm in size). When I use the hedge cutter to trim the hedge a…

Loganberries
Hi all Ive bought 2 loganberry plants which I was intending to put into large pots. However most of the online advice says loganberries need to go into the ground rather than pots. Has anyone grown loganberries on here? I have blueberries, raspberries, blackcurrants and a jostaberry in pots, they are doing well. I also…
