Moved a ceanothus bush, how do I rescue it?
Last month I decided to move a ceanothus bush that was fighting for light. I know it was not the right season and I was too impulsive. Since the move I have watered it everyday, but it looks to be dying. The leaves have shriveled up and the blue flowers dried up and are falling off. Any tips on rescuing it?

Ladybirds love Japanese Anemones
I have been clearing out the old growth on plants ready for the winter. I have noticed that there are lots of ladybirds on my Japanese Anemones. I am going to leave a few standing for them. Also another thing I have noticed. I love the white varieties. I accidently purchased a Whirlwind three years ago. This has been the…

mini cordless chain saw
I'm getting a little old to be climbing up the apple trees for long periods to prune with secateurs, so ........ I wondered if a cordless mini chain saw, or similar, would make the job easier. Branches will be less than 5cms in, most just this year's growth. My thoughts are that the job will be quicker, so less time up the…

£6k for garden Reno.. too much?
I have moved into my first home about 2 months ago. Thankfully the inside of the house is modern and not much needs doing in terms of DIY at all. Snowberry
I’ve been cutting out the dead laurel from our hedge. I suspect the bushes will need digging out but (a) that’s beyond me and (b) I’m hoping the roots are still alive and will throw up new shoots. however in the process of removing the dead stuff I have discovered that what I think is a snowberry is amazingly leggy -…

A garden restoration project (nothing fancy)
A long building project has just been completed but left its mark on my garden. Hydrangea no flowers
Bought an Hydrangea plant last year with big white flowers. After winter it withered to nothing , just a few dried sticks sticking up from pot. Come springtime it sprouted fresh leaves from bottom and after watering well it is now back to a healthy looking bushy plant. No flowers though. I know that some Hydrangeas only…
