What can I grow in planter up this shed wall?

Options
Hi all

Dead simple this…
here’s my ugly shed wall.
I’m going to put a planter at the bottom. I want to grow something (low maintenance) up that wall… preferably edible.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Please.

TIA

What direction does the wall face? There's no photo... What is the shed wall made of?

And when you say low maintenance... Are you willing to water regularly, etc. tomatoes could work depending on direction it faces

How about quince (jelly with added bonus of flowers) or fig? I believe both would benefit from the heat of the brick wall.

Needs to be a huge planter otherwise you are going to need to water very frequently, especially in hot weather

I've grown Red currants/Blackcurrants and Gooseberries up a fence. They suffer but thrive in a fence shadow so dry.
But anything edible is going to be deciduous so depending on where you live, it will be bare branches.

Star Jasmine grows like topsy, pretty and just needs hacking back once a year.

To cover my bins i grew himalayan honeysuckle. It is not a climber, but it grows quicker and like an inverted triangle so you get a good spread at the top..it is evergreen with purple flowers than Berries in the summer. It also means I can then have some bulbs in the bottom of the planter or you could have maybe a small clematis to climb at the back.

I believe himalayan honeysuckle can get out of hand but in a planter it is fine. I got my small shrub from  neighbour so, because it already so well, if you can find someone wirh some local you can likely pick some up for free

HH certainly does grow very enthusiastically - but I have seen one locally that seems to have spread out of the pot and is growing in the ground nearby. The resident of the house doesn't do gardening so the thing was just left to run wild

    Need pictures of wall
    Which direction does it face?
    How high is it?
How big a planter will you get?
    How windy is the area?
Can you fix something to the wall for the plant to hang on to or does it need to cling directly to the wall?
How much work are you prepared to put in keeping the plant healthy and looking nice?

    Hi all.
Thank you for your comments. Hopefully, this will help you assist me.
This is my shed. The planter on the left is 2m long. It’s is 420mm wide and 380mm high. The wall is brick but I’ve FIRMLY attached some artificial Ivy trellis to it and some Green netting (you can see by zooming in). The wall faces North East. I want to be Greedy/Lazy and if possible grow something edible. The wall protects the trellis from the wind. What’s your thoughts peeps?
