Green roof substrate
I've built a gazebo to act as a barbeque shelter - believe it or not, it's been known to rain when I grill - and am going to put a green roof on top.
I'd rather not pay for the specialist firms' own blend, as I'm hoping it's just a question of mixing some aggregate with compost - but can anyone share a recipe for the optimum mix?

I think you need to look back at the gardening shows. Particularly the smaller ones from pre pandemic. There were many there. I think an impressive one was Gardeners World. You want whatever seedum grows in as that's the usual.Yup, I put a search for Gardeners World green roof and lots came up.I'm sure you've factored in the weight to the roof before you do this
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I watched an episode of George Clarke's Amazing Spaces and there was a wooden house which had a sedum roof - it looked like individual trays of sedum had been potted up and just placed on the roof close together to fill the space.
I recycled a piece of fake grass and popped it on my shed roof and placed sedum up there. It is going a treat and is slowly covering the roof.1
