Mobility Car/DLA
Hello, I am really hoping I could have a little advice. I don’t want to go on too much but basically my father was admitted to hospital early hours of the 3rd of October for a very badly broken leg. He was told by several doctors it needed amputating. By the time they’d decided upon this, the final doctor refused to do it…

50% car tax disability reduction
Just realised this morning that I’ve been overpaying car tax since 2018 and I’m cross. If you get complete exemption from car tax because of claiming higher rate mobility on PIP, DVLA change your V5C. if however, you get standard mobility on PIP, you are expected to claim by post every year. I sent them the first evidence…

PIP renewal - Time scales and what happens next
Hi, My husbands PIP renewal arrived, we completed it and returned it and DWP had confirmation they have the form. Completed using new medical evidence and advice from a couple of charities, so a detailed reply. His mobility needs have changed. So its not as simple as DWP leaving his award as is. We are anticipating some…

Reduce water bills.
We recently had notification that our DD for water was gonig up by over £20. So I got in touch with Anglian Water, filled in a short form and now we are on a different tariff that is actually a few £s less than we have been paying. Saving £23 a month. The tariff is Extra LITE tariff.

Selling house for care home fees
Hi All, My elderly father (90) is currently in a care home for 4-6 weeks to be assessed as to what care needs he has (currently NHS funded). We are almost 100% sure he'll need care home/24/7 care as he has dementia and doesnt recall my visits each day amongst numerous other symptoms (amazingly still no diagnosis though!)…

Hi all. My daughter is in receipt of enhanced PiP (both componants) and we leased a motability car in March 2018. Her Pip award was for 4 years from Jan 18, we did get a car as soon as we were able but obviously had to wait for paperwork etc. I know her renewal will start around Jan 20 (normally 12 month in advance) for…

Hi everyone,I'm hoping for some advice as I'm in a tricky situation and feeling very worried. I'm on 'New Style' ESA and am excited to be starting a new job. Stairlifts - buy or rent?
I have arthritis in my knee and am having real difficulty with the stairs in my house. I hope to get a knee replacement within the next year or so, after which I’ll hopefully be able to manage the stairs again. In the meantime a stairlift would make my life a lot easier. What are your experiences of renting a (straight)…

DWP discrimination against elderly and Disabled
Helping a 80 year old man who was attacked by two Rottweilers 18 months ago and lost an arm and leg as a result. He can’t travel safely in a car so needs a mobility car with wheelchair access. Naturally following such an awful event you would assume that he qualifies for the mobility scheme but no! He can’t get PIP as too…

Mother in law - Is she entitled to disability help?
Hi, I'm getting increasingly concerned for my wife's mum. She has been in poor health and overweight for a number of years but has always kept on working. Over the last 2 years her health has deteriorated rapidly and she has thankfully now took the decision to retire. She has a heart condition that means she cannot walk…

Moving house - getting help to clear house
Not massively disabled (but do have a blue badge) but do have back issues.... It makes it difficult now to move stuff around. Move stuff into storage. An hour or so loading the car etc means 3-4 days of pain. Just wondered how poor people even worse off than me manage with things like this. Is there someone you can pay…

They got sold off to Pharmacy2u, and the experience with them is dire, so looking to take my business elsewhere. The reviews for both Boots and Superdrug are bad. Initially considered Hey…
