I've been forwarded a petition by one of my hubby's workmates. He is a volunteer with the Mountain Rescue, which as many if not most of you will know is funded and run entirely by donations and volunteers. There is a petition on the Downing Street website for people to sign up so that they can claim back the VAT on all of…

Hope this is OK to post in this Charities category as I'm trying to help a school out. Today I have answered the door and they were wearing Red cross tabards…

"Helping Arms"

Xbox games
I have about 15 xbox games (not xbox 360, original xbox) and I could sell them at CEX for around £15, but that's hardly a life changing sum, lol! So I thought maybe I could donate them. I'd rather not donate to a charity shop, instead I'd like to go where they'll actually be used and enjoyed. Any ideas? I've had a look…

Oxfam, Gift Aid
If you take goods into Oxfam shops, they now ask you if you would like to "GiftAid" the goods. This means that Oxfam can reclaim tax on the goods that they sell, providing that you are a taxpayer.:D You need to fill in forms and can tick the box that says you don't want to receive information from them.
