Help for an AMAZING charity - I'm trekking 200k in the desert!

Hi Guys! :beer:

I am doing a gruelling 12 day trek covering 200km in the Namibian desert from 16-30 May 2009 in aid of the charity SOS Children with a friend of mine. I have organised the entire event myself: NO groups, NO help...(NO showers aaaarrghhh!)

The trek will cover some of the world’s hottest and most inhospitable terrains, but we are hoping that through this great personal challenge we can raise a greater awareness about the wonderful work that the charity undertakes.

SOS Children (Charity Registration no: 1069204) is a charity dedicated to children made orphans through war, famine, disease or poverty, including street children, AIDS orphans, child soldiers and other children who have nothing and no-one. Unusually, it works by providing surrogate mothers and families for such children, and houses them in “villages” with other mothers, providing a sense of community and extended care and education.

SOS Children is truly global and non discriminatory: it works in 123 countries around the world and cares for more than 1 million vulnerable children and their families through medical centres, social centres, vocational training schemes and emergency relief efforts.

Isn't the fact that I am going to smell like a baboon enough?! ;p

Seriously,this really is a FANTASTIC cause. Your money really will make a difference - at least one child will be better off because of you. It doesn't matter how big or small your donation is, all I ask is that please give something, because it does all add up.

My target is £6000 but with your help I want to beat that.
