Charity Shop Experiences.
Hello. This question is directed primarily at those who work in Charity Shops, But clearly, all views are welcome, especially fellow shoppers. I am wondering if in your shops the CDs and DVDs are organised in any particular way. It seems to me that they are not organised at all. I have seen CDs in long rows, and in racks,…

Where to donate used UK postage stamps
For years we've been sending these to Macmillan Cancer but this year they've stopped accepting them. Internet searches come up with a whole lot of inaccurate institutions who no longer accept them too. Does anyone have an up to date information and link on who might still like to receive these please.

Financial Assistance to Travel to Home Office Weekly
I know someone who has to get to the nearest Home Office on a weekly basis costing them £10 a return on the train (£8 on bus that would take 3 hours there and back), but they're on basic rate of UC for a single person, and they're not able to afford to eat. I am a higher rate taxpayer whereas my wife is on basic rate tax. We only have joint bank accounts. If we make charitable gifts which can benefit from gift aid- am I only entitled to declare 50% of the gift to HMRC ? whereas paying from a sole account would allow me to claim 100%. When it comes to me informing HMRC ( to…

No invoice issued
I help at a charity which took some people on a trip in August 2017, they paid to go. Despite being asked for an invoice the coach company has never issued one or asked for payment. The coach company director used to be a helper with the charity so he may have donated the service but this has not been confirmed. As the…

Do you work in a charity shop which does Gift Aid
I volunteer in a charity shop. At the moment we do not do Gift aid but will be starting shortly. I know they will be explaining it all to us but I would be interested to know how it works from the shops assistants point of view in advance so I can be prepared with any questions. What extra work is involved at each stage,…

New Bank Account - Co-op, Virgin Money, or something else?
After having had a pretty appalling experience with Barclays over several years, my charity is looking to switch. After extensive research about what might be appropriate for our needs, it seems to have come down to Co-op or Virgin... when looking at their own websites and associated blurb. Both, however, seem to have…

Gift aid (GASDS) claims for donations on behalf of another charity
Can anyone help me clear up some confusion about giftaid/GASDS eligibility when there's another charity involved? To clarify, I am the treasurer of the local parish church. We do giftaid and GASDS claims on a regular basis, which is usually straightforward for normal Sunday collections and donations to the church. However,…

wanting to create 3 community projects, unsure of legalities ?
I have been eager to assist my community for a while now, but I am uncertain if there are any legal requirements that I should meet before initiating these projects?
