Topcashback Ukraine donation
I logged into my Topcashback account and a message popped up saying they'd match donations from your balance to the Ukraine DEC appeal.I thought that was a good idea and donated my balance, by going to the payout option and choosing the charity option (there is a quirk that you still have to give yourself a minimum of 1p…

Telephone price increase
Working for a charity, our monthly billing has increased from £180 +VAT per month to £232.89 +VAT per month which is £52.89 price increase per month. This is an increase of 29.38% and surely is something that can be disputed? Any help or support on this would be greatly appreciated.

Fundraising for friend's surgery
Apologies if this is the wrong board. A friend of mine needs a surgery that will cost several thousand pounds. He lives abroad and unfortunately that means he must fund it himself, and it's a lot of money for him. I would like to do a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to help my friend. There is a community of people…

Toucan Giving Platform
Has anyone used this, it was on Dragons Den and seems to be an easy way of giving without ending up on charity data lists and having endless phone calls and junk mail. But the fees are quite high especially for smaller donations.

Employment Allowance
Hi all I’ve just become Treasurer for a (small) charity. My own background is commercial, not charity. I have found that the charity hasn’t been claiming the Employment Allowance for NICs. There’s no issue about entitlement to the Allowance. My question relates to Restricted/ Unrestricted funds : almost all of the…

Can a charity borrow from restricted funds
Is it permitted for a charity to use restricted funds for other purposes (without asking permission from the donor) if Trustees have personally guaranteed to repay the funds in time to deliver the activity for which the funds were donated?

Group accounting help
Hello All, hope this is in the correct category. I am helping on a social media group and we have decided to produce and see products starting with group stickers and then maybe cups, t-shirts. I was first thinking of doing all this at cost price so no accounts should be needed, but now I was thinking with a very small…

Help! Due to sickness I've been asked to take over the raffle for a social club. Some tickets have been sold and others will be sold on the night. Charity shop question.
I have two questions about charity shops, I hope I have found the right board for some advice 🙂 Firstly what's the best way to find out about the locations of charity 'clearance' stores? (Where items that have not sold within a certain period get moved to and reduced, often all items are the same set price across the…

Setting up IVF Charity / Interest Free Loan Service
I have just recently had IVF as a single woman. It's very early days but I'm currently pregnant. It was obviously very expensive, just over £10,000 so far. Fortunately I'm now in a job where I am earning a lot more than I have in my life before and my parents were in a position to lend me some money. However, this and…

Raising money for Charity
Hi guys. I’m not sure if this is in the correct section of the forum. I’m taking part in the Manchester Half Marathon in October 2022, (a long way off but I am incredibly unfit) I am raising money for Multiple Sclerosis (MSsocietyUK) and in memory of my dad who sadly passed away after his brave battle in 2008 my dad was a…

Updating (postage) mailing list
I volunteer for my local Lions group and we currently utilise a mailing list to advertise our two largest events of the year, through posting out leaflets. The issue being that the mailing list has been built over 20+ years ... so we don't know whether these contact details are still up to date, or even still alive…

Money Moral Dilemma: Should I go back and pay for the mirror I broke in a charity shop?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... I accidentally knocked over a large mirror and a shop volunteer picked it up. I pointed out some damage and he said it was fine, but as I was leaving, he came over with some moulding that must have broken off the frame and said I should offer to pay, claiming the mirror was…

Bank closed our account
I am part of a small mental health charity with a turnover of less than £500 a year. We had a Treasurers Account with Nationwide, but recently they have closed it saying they no longer offer this service. We tried to move to Lloyds but they wont accept transferred accounts. I checked with the Bank of Scotland and they say…
