I'm asking because I dont want to end up costing the charities a lot of money.
I have lived in my current property for close to 18 months and the person who lived here is so lousy it seems like they haven't bothered to update their details.
I do return to sender any commercial letters, but I just bin the charity stuff. Hoping the charity will stop sending stuff (or they will update their address).
I can photograph the letter and email the charity to ask them to remove the person from our address - but it's a lot of faff. We got a LOT of mailings for them. I would just like to mark the envelope return to sender and post it back.

No charge, and the charity should be grateful, we would.
Do add "not known at this address" to the RTS, for the avoidance of doubt.Signature removed for peace of mind2 -
I don't know if a charge applies for return to sender post, and a quick internet search doesn't throw up anything useful at first glance.
But it does occur to me that it must cost the charity something to send out mailshots.
Even if they had to pay for a one-off return, if they actioned it and stopped sending more that should save them money in the long term.2
