Hi
My 8 year old son has decided that he would like to help kids who are not as lucky as him and we have come up with the idea of sending a box of things to a child to brighten their life up a bit but have only found one website/charity that does that sort of thing, and they only do it a christmas
http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/.
We were wondering if anyon knew of a charity that does this at any other time of year? I know the easy thing to do would be to give money but my son would rather use his own mind as to what a child his age would like.
Any advise would be great, Thanks in advance x

Why dont you contact a charity local to you and ask if this is something they would like to make use of? As long as it doesn't involve them in lots of organisation, I'm sure they would be deighted. Somewhere like your local women's refuge or refugee support group would be ideal.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

I wonder if you could get in touch with your local hospital, and get your son to pack a box for the childrens ward? I don't think there is a specific charity to do this but the hspital may be able to sort something out with your son.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Hiya, your son could pick which child he would like to send to at www.postpals.co.uk not only would a box of gifts really brighten a child's day, he could draw pictures or write letters from them to put up on their hospital room wallsBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Maybe ask his school if they can help and maybe get some other kids to chip in too0

Great post - just what I was looking for as well - my dad passed away last July and since he donated to charities, the family would like to do something similar which involves us physically doing the handover rather than just donating money. I was thinking along the lines of doing a shoe box/boxes for less fortunate children or those in hospital. Any other ideas would be great too.0

Hi,
I send mine to 'Feed the Children'. I'm not allowed to post links, but try a web search and, if you have any problems finding them, let me know.
Best,
S0
