formatting usb hdd with ubuntu
I have a 30 gig usb drive that i have formatted in ubuntu as ext3. Problem is, when I try to use it i find it is locked and i can not write to it. How do i format so the drive is read/write on any linux system i connect to it . Thanks

Why did i need to reactivate windows xp?
Just curious, I turned on the computer today and got a message along the lines of "Your computer has changed significantly since you first activated windows,you now have 3 days to reactivate" I reactivated and all is ok, but I only did a fresh install of XP 2 weeks ago and nothing had changed.

Help with 2nd hand PC
I have been given a PC and am unsure what if anything I need to check to make sure there is no virus lurking. I have Windows XP, the PC is quite old but hopefully will do until I get back on my feet and can purchase a newer one, I have Mcafee installed as part of my broadband package. Internet Explorer 8 on XP
So I took the plunge and bravely installed IE 8 on my old XP computer The result? opening a new tab makes the cpu jump to 100% for about 5 seconds and its crashed twice in 5 minutes Anyone have any clue on changing settings so it might make it to only crashing every 10 mins? :p
