Need help transferring 35mm slides to digital

I have 250 35mm colour slides that I wish to transfer onto a CD. My scanner doesn't have a slide carrier. I have looked at specialist scanners but feel that it might not be either cost or tome effective.

I am looking at companies to do this for me and would appreciate any reccomendations and/or advice please

I was thinking of doing the same thing to. I've been around all the major high street shops, and all the prices I've collected have been ridiculously expensive. Kodak do them for something like £1 each , Jessops is the cheapest at something like 50p (which is still quite dear).

The salesperson at Jessops did show me a slide scanner/converter for £100 though. I have about 200 slides as well so it works at about the same price (ignoring the time/effort). Doesn't seem like a good buy considering once I've finished scanning them I have no more use for it.

If only they let us rent it. I was thinking the university art dept. might have one, so I'll ask.

Best is something like a Nikon Coolscan from £600+ not cheap but very good, far better results than any scanner adaptor.

I borrowed one, so ask around.

    Equinox, for 50p a time i'd be tempted ;)
I scanned about 300 slides into my machine a few months back which took forever on my Cannon 8800f, not so much due to the scanner time (about 2-3 minutes for 4 slides at a very high res), but the faffing about getting them loaded and having to be at the PC all the time (I've still got to go through and crop/clean them up some time).

I recently bought a Veho 35mm film/slide scanner on eBay that scans your pics directly onto an SD card, so you can work away from the computer. Mine was reconditioned, and they are available for £60-70.
