I have Dell 530 with Vista home Premium. I am using a firewire connection (1394) to capture homemade video that I took. I am trying to use MovieMaker version 6.
Movie maker seems to take control of the camcorder and allows me to operate it from the Movie maker import video screen. However, the preview screen stays black and i can only view the video and audio on the camcorder. When I try to actually start the importing, the camera is running, but the preview screen on Movie maker is still black and when I'm done; Movie maker gives an error message that the import did not work properly.
I have tried on xp, changed firewire cable, updated drivers, BIOS, but i cant transfer my home movies.
Help please

Apparently this is not an isolated problem. JVC recommend Pinnacle Studio, but as there is no trial version there is no way to check if it will work without purchasing the product.0
