Blatant lying on TV ad.
"Flash cleaner" - "Cleans the impossible" Obviously it can't, but according to advertising standards it's OK to lie as it's called "Puffery" When I come to sell my car I think I'll say it does 250MPH, and averages 400MPG, and it's OK 'cos it's just puffery.

I am going to be banned by a supermarket!
I have just received the following email from my local supermarket (who shall remain nameless for the moment). What are my rights here? Dear Mr. Maninthestreet Over the past 12 months, you have been causing quite a commotion in our xxxxxxx store. We cannot tolerate this type of behaviour and, as a result, will ban you and…

Beware of Hi (Home Innovations) Roller Blinds.
Sold by B&M Bargains. There's nothing wrong with the blinds themselves, and if you fit them straight out of the box, they'll be fine. However, you need to be very careful, if cutting them to fit a window, as the cutting dimensions are wrong. If you fit the brackets, then follow the instructions to cut the blind as per…

Nintendo NES
Venting about my own stupidity. The only thing my partner has ever specifically asked for in 7 years and I forgot to pre-order it. And now it's sold out. Everywhere. Gaaaaahhhhh!!! I really don't want to be one of those people that queues in the early hours to get their hands on something. Could be a long Christmas this…

Strange info on jacket bought in market
Not really a Praise, Vent or Warning, more a Laugh, although trying to figure out the meaning of the 4th paragraph is giving me a headache. On holiday recently, I bought a waterproof jacket in a market. No complaints about the jacket, but the information tag that came with it is very puzzling. It's written in pigeon…

Caffe Nero
I was at Caffe Nero yesterday and was carrying my hot drink to a table. Someone barged past me, knocked my drink out of my hand and all over the table/floor. The staff saw what happened and didn't offer to help me clean up the mess, they just watched me do it. And I went back to the counter to ask whether they could make…

Curry's very good service
Found my Philips hot air frier was not controlling it's temperature, could not find the receipt but remembered which card I used so looked it up and found I bought it 30th December for £99.99 on offer. Took it back to the shop and expected a bit of hassle with no obvious fault and no receipt but the assistant just asked…

Harveys Furniture - delivery or lack of!
This is emphatically not a 'praise' post!! In your experience - how long is a reasonable time to wait for a delivery - e.g. sofa & chairs? My first suite, I had just moved into to a house, went to a furniture store - saw the one I liked, had it delivered days later. The second one about a decade ago, went to a discount…

Mightydeals / ultimo electronics - ignoring calls and emails about refund!
Saw a deal on mightydeals for a supposed class A refurbished samsung soundbar and wireless sub. When it arrived it was a piece of junk and definitely not class A refurbished. The packaging was in terrible condition and looks like it had been kicked or thrown around. When I opened it up I inspected the soundbar and it is in…

My daughter ordered an online Pizza delivery, used a code online to get 50% off, the deal showed up on the screen and she paid. Upon checking her bank account the 50% had not been applied and the full amount taken from here bank. She has phoned dominoes and they have admitted that it is their fault as the code was correct,…

Amazing Customer Service From Next
I ordered a lovely suit for my boyfriend from Next's online clearance section. Total cost £45 for the trousers and jacket. Picked them up and took them home, unfortunately the trousers sent were (a) not what I ordered and (b) not a match to the jacket. Went into store and explained showing my order and that what I received…

Praise - three mobile
"Feel at home" really is a fantastic deal that three mobile offer. I've been in Croatia for a week and had access to my normal phone tariff and unlimited data for the normal price of £20 a month. I remember only three years ago paying a £120 phone bill for a week in Italy. What a great deal!

Beware UGG boot possible scam
Not sure if this is the right place for this post. I got an email yesterday from service@lachatweb.ch promoting discounted UGG boots. It redirected to http://www.bootsnn.com. Prices seem cheap, but not so cheap to be too good to be true. I proceeded with a purchase, but when it came to…

G-Tech praise
My mum is not very tech savvy, so I want to say thank you to GTech on her behalf. She called them up to ask about pricing for a new Air-Ram, but explained that hers wasn't working very well. Rather than give pricing, the man looked her up on the database, asked her to bring the item to the phone and turn it on. He said the…

LED Street Lights downside.
I used to have a sodium street light on the street that my back garden is against and could see to read the thermometer in my greenhouse when it is dark, also my wife could see well enough to bring in the washing without needing an exterior light. The council has now replaced this light and all the others in the street…
