Excellent service from BT reps on this forum
Can I just say that the service I have had from Natasha, one of the BT reps on here and Jon, one of her colleagues has been absolutely outstanding. I have had an ongoing problem with BT now for over a month - concerns slow broadband speed, but is really in respect of the main socket into the house; I won't bore you all…

Ordering a "BT" Line for the first time ...
Having moved from a Cable (VM) area into a BT area I had been scouting about for the best priced package for a home phone as I only want to get the broadband setup, from o2. We had seen the Post Office Home Phone, for £11.95 a month you got alot, including the line rental, so I had put in for this over the phone... this…

Swiftcall - closing down, similar or better alternatives?
Hi all, First posting for me using MSE, known about the site for many years now and a semi regular lurker! I got a notice that Swiftcall are pulling out of the market and/or closing down. It means the fantastic plan I've been on will no longer be. I did a quick search and I'm semi surprised this company and it's…

Another BT question
I was contacted by a person from BT about a month ago offering me a reduction in my monthly bill of something like £2 because my broadband/phone contract was near renewal date.I refused, saying that I could get a better deal elsewhere.Response was 'Ok Sir,let me see what we can work out,we'll be in touch'.No further contact…

BT monthly charges change..
Not sure if anyone else has had this but BT called me today saying my account was overdue and I owed them £74. I was stunned as I only have BT Broadband with them and only normally pay £21 per month online. It turns out that BT in their own usual dominant manner have decided to change my payments to upfront quarterly…

Anti-Marketing Group...Genuine?
Hi! This is my first post, so please forgive me if I've put it in the wrong place! This isn't strictly about money saving, but potentially to stop me from getting ripped off, which would save me money! I've just had a call from the 'Anti-Marketing Group' who say they can stop marketing calls to our house and stop junk…

Consumer pressure required to get companies to switch to 03
Many companies use the excuse that they want to have national non geographic presence for their customers which is why they use 0845,0844,0870 numbers. The problem with these numbers are that they cost the consumer alot and they are rarely included as part of your inclusive minutes on mobile phone or home packages. Last…

BT call package & partner's parents, why?
Father in law was taken into hospital, life threatening condition. As the family rush around looking after their mum i have the task of sorting out their bills. Checking the BT bill i find he pays using a payment card & pays every week. Account currently in £100+ credit after receiving the latest bill. Because the account…

How stringent are BT's Credit Checks?
I'm asking the above question because my friend and her partner have separated, the bill was in his name. But for the last 2-3 month's she has been paying the bill by Direct Debit. Will she have to go through a credit check to keep the line?

Automatic phone disconnect
As my BT calls are free up to one hour does anyone know of a handy device which will disconnect a call after 59 minutes? My kids sometimes forget and it's frustrating when I don't mind them being on the phone for hours as long as they keep hanging up! I am searching the web for something right now but no luck so far .......

is 0845 to become chargeable in November?
I am looking at having an 0845 no and I was told that it will be free for me and 4p/1p for the customer (free to BT call plans) I am being told that this may be phased out by Offcom in NOvember and I would be facing charges - does anyone know if that is true - they are trying to get me to have an 0844 no instead

Do I need to get BT to remove an old white, oval GPO plastic point?
Hi there Looking for some advice. I have an old white/cream oval plastic box on my inside window frame. It looks like the black wire from the phone socket point near the floor goes up the inside of the wall, possibly connects into this white box and then possibly another cable feeds out the wall to the BT pole? Does anyone…

Pestered with cold calls - ways to see off?
We are being pestered with unsolicited telephone calls, mostly I think from the Far East, trying to sell us mobile phone offers and financial services. We are registered with the Telephone Preference service to say we do not accept cold calls but clearly that makes no difference to these off shore operations, although I do…

My BT bill..
Okay when I moved out my mum sorted out a home phone for me. She put some sort of plan on it (not sure what its called) so that when my bill reaches £50 I can't make any outgoing calls, so my bill is kept down. So my first bill comes in eary this year saying it's over £700. Now it's over £800. I don't understand why they…

Alarm call Service
Hi, I was desperately searching a wake up call provider - Virgin's service doesn't seem to work on my phone, BT charge a phenomenal £7 and my mobile alarm clock is less than useless! I have delayed sleep-phase disorder so I thought I'd try this for size. I can't post a link as I post so infrequently (I just lurk!) but you…

how do I de-activate 1571??
A few years ago, when BT introduced their 'free' service 1571, I used to have a code to de-activate it....a series of ## and *** plus the figures 1571. Over the years, this code has got lost, and I can't remember what it is! I am now with Tiscali (although it's still a BT line) but BT won't talk to me as I'm no longer a…
