Another BT question

I was contacted by a person from BT about a month ago offering me a reduction in my monthly bill of something like £2 because my broadband/phone contract was near renewal date.I refused,saying that I could get a better deal elsewhere.Response was 'Ok Sir,let me see what we can work out,we'll be in touch'.No further contact has been received with an improved offer.I think I'm paying over the odds for my package-£55.50/month seems to me to be a heck of a lot.

    With BT Together Option 3 broadband being £29.41/month and line rental being £11.25/month, £40.66 is the maximum you should be paying for the basics.

    OTOH, if you have BT Vision with 6 viewing packs as well, £55.28 would be the base price.
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    I know I've pressed the thanks button for both of you,but thanks again.I phoned today to request a MAC,and was given this deal.Downgrade to Option2,still retaining the security package.New home hub.Change from monthly payment plan to DD,and E-mail billing.
    Broadband=£15.65/mth for 12mths,then £20.45.Line rental £11.25.Free evening & W/E calls.Total £28.15/mth.Quite a saving.Not a heavy internet user,so Opt.2 will be fine.
