Rehoming pets
I've had to make a decision to rehome my two guinea pigs and despite using a number of different ideas to look for a new home for them I havent had much success. I am unwilling to hand them over to a shelter on the basis that I looked after them for a long time and am its my responsibilty to find them a new home + that…

Dog Sitting Charges
I lost my dog recently and I am finding it very difficult. The house is empty without him and I miss the walks etc. I don't work so have lots of free time. It's too soon for me to think about getting another dog so I thought about dog sitting. My dog used to go to dog sitters and he always seemed very happy with them. My…

Insurance underwriting question
Has anyone experience of claiming with a policy underwritten by RSA? I've taken out John Lew*is insurance (underwritten by Axa) but have now been informed that they've moved underwriters to RSA and at renewal my policy will move to them. Not sure whether to move now (in case there is a problem this year) or take the chance…

Puppies Buried Alive
Anyone else seen this story on the news this morning? (don't watch the video if you are easily upset - or even not so easily) Poor little mites survived being buried alive and ended up euthanised because they were in such poor condition. Back street breeders at their worst and only a six month sentence each. Bar stewards.

Having a problem with new hamster.
Hi all, I'm a bit worried about one of my new hamsters. I just got two baby male Chinese hamsters today. Super excited but when they were delivered this morning I opened the box and one hamster immediately started making loud clicks and chattering noises. It hasn't stopped since and I'm worried about it. The other one has…

Rescue cat - fights with neighbours cats
Hi there, We adopted our 2 year old cat from the Blue Cross about 6 months ago, she is a little timid, but happy around humans. We have a 'smart' catflap and started letting her out for lengthening periods of time 2-3 months back. We've been watching her with other cats and she likes to sneak up on them, but runs away…

Missing cat - NOW FOUND! :)
Our cat, Floyd, didn't come home on Tuesday night and hasn't been seen since. He's microchipped, but doesn't wear a collar. We live in Purton, near Swindon. He's never disappeared before. I've phoned all the vets and they've told me that any vet to take him in will scan him straight away, haven't heard anything, so he's…

Introducting kittens to an older cat
We are getting two new kittens tomorrow and I am starting to get a little nervous about how they are going to settle in with our older cat. We have had our cat for about four or five years, she is an ex breeding queen that we adopted. She can be quite temperamental at times which is why I just don’t know how to approach…

litter tray not used this morning
We re-homed our little 2 year old rescue cat a month ago. She has always used the litter tray with no problems right from the first day we brought her home. Since last weekend, we've been letting Maisie out in the afternoons & evenings. She seems to love going outside to the extent that she didn't come home at all a couple…

Rabbits and boredom
Hiya, I have recently got a couple of rabbits. They are let out almost every day (depending on weather) and I was wondering what other rabbit owners do to dispel boredom. They have a big run, 3.5ft x 7ft. They have a couple of tube/tunnel type things and some things to gnaw on. Anything else I can give them? Thank you.

Kitten on the roof
Our youngest kitten decided that it would be a good idea to climb out of the upstairs window last night jump on to the top edge of the window and then scramble onto the house roof. Only trouble was she then didnt seem able to work out how to do it in reverse, so we could hear her pretty much all night calling out and…

Biting/attacking cat; new behaviour
My 6/7 year old Tom cat seems to have started biting and attacking me. He's an only indoor cat for the last 13 months, has quite a few toys around, but is quite a lazy cat really. In the last couple of weeks he's started to randomly attack me. He'll seek me out to do this, or he'll come for some thing, then just turn…

Punishment" the same as correction...?
This came up yesterday about a young puppy that was biting (to the point of drawing blood) on another pup. I said that the person should stop the pup doing that by correcting it, and someone else said that if you "punish" the pup like that it would turn out aggressive... So,,,,,is that true? I have no experience on being…
