It's far too hot to have the windows open but as I live on the 2nd floor I'm worried that little ollie will fall out
Sooo, we have been playing musical rooms but it's not ideal lol!
Does anyone have any cheap ideas how to solve my problem?
I have window locks so the windows can open a little way and no more so ollie is safe but I really could do with them open quite a bit more!
I'm no good at diy but if there was a safe easy way and obviously cheap way to do it, i may give it a go.
I have looked at specialist sites online but they are too pricy and I have an odd window that the openings are about 5ft up the full length window and open upwards so there is no ledge to rest a screening.
I have thought about white plastic netting and hooks but not sure where i can find them.
If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly recieved before i cook:eek:

The plastic-covered coarse rigid wire mesh that some garden centres sell would be an option, with stick-on cable tie bases, like the ones you can get from Maplin, to hold it in place.
The mesh is usually only available in green, but as it's only temporary that shouldn't be a problem.0 -
If it doesn't have to be majorly secure, i.e. it's only when you're home to half supervise, what about net curtains and velcro?0

I had though about that but it will have to be fairly secure, just in case ollie goes jumping or climbing on it and breaks the fixings:eek:
Not sure how secure velcro would be but at least the nets are hopefully unclimbable if smooth:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0 -
You can get some pretty strong velcro - OH had some to stick parts of his motorbike panels down flat so it had to have some real sticking power! There's some heavy duty/'super strong' velcro available on the market.0

Window cages for residents in heigh tenements blocks in Chelsea without gardens. Maybe you could build something similar?0 -
Cheapest and safest way is to shut the cat in one part of the flat whilst you fling open all the windows in the other part as you have been doing. You might also close the curtains for part of the day to keep the heat out and get a large fan to help the air move around. Other than that please don't bodge something, cats can easily rip through a net curtain or thin mesh if they launch themselves at a bird outside or fly indoors. Bear in mind the force you create when jumping is much higher than your weight when standing so any system would have to take a lot more than a few kg.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I have used plastic meshing ( deer netting in my case which I used to cat proof the back garden ) held in place with net curtain tension rods ( Wilkinson ). I tried various permutations fixed with Velcro and they all came loose after a short time. Tension rods hold very firmly.0

we have these on our windows to make sure the Indoor cats dont get out. You can sometimes pick them up cheaply from ebay like this. Not sure mothercare sell them anymore. They are cheap and easy to fit
