Seeking a simpler, less frantic and much slower way of life.
Life sometimes seems to run away with us, we seem to always be watching what's happening here in the UK and in the rest of the world sitting on a cliff edge, 24 hour news coverage makes everything seem more frantic and repeat showing over and over of the same disaster clip magnifies the feeling of being not in charge of…

Problem eggs
I have been buying large organic eggs from Abel & Cole, since 2012. Recently, ie in last few weeks, I have noticed two problems. 1. When soft-boiled for the usual amount of time, there's like a puddle of raw white on top, then very runny yolk until the bottom, where it's going hard. 2. When fried, the white spreads out a…

Bugs in flour
Just discovered small mites in a newly opened bag of flour stored in cupboard since early in lockdown. Any way of killing them , ie heating oven to make it usable? Hate wasting food if there,s a way of rescuing it. No idea where they came from. Most products in this cupboard are in tins or sealed containers Any thoughts or…

Weekly Flylady Thread 17th August 2020
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…
