O/S Daily Friday 21 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Overcast but dry and blustery start to the day.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, and I'm showered dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was pasta in a creamy tomato sauce, gammon and sausages, peas and mushrooms. Tonight will be something and chips/salad.
Yesterday I got done what I wanted so today I'll be food shopping first thing, then doing stuff at home.
keep safe and well x

Morning ,
Thanks for starting us off nmlc . OH day off yesterday. Weekly shopping done and a trip to the charity shop. Also did a bit of gardening and filled up the wheelie bin, as rain forecast for all week next week.
Today a small bit of paperwork to do and post. Meeting a friend for a coffee in a well known coffee shop, will be good to have a catch up.

Morning All
Wet and windy here too, the rain woke me at 5 so I got up and did a yoga session from Yootoob, being back at work means a stiff back and neck so I must keep it up.
I went shopping after work for DGDs birthday cake decorations but they may not be coming as DGS had a raging temp yesterday and they have had to go for a covid test. DS hasn't seen them since Saturday so he's ok, just hoping it comes back negative. When I got home I made veggie meatballs in a tomato sauce for DD and family just so they have something to eat when they get back from their holibobs, looks like they've had a good time and the weather has been kind to them. So lovely to see little Sophie playing in the sand on the beach.
Glad it's Friday, that's the first full week at work done, my brain needs a rest! Hope you can all enjoy the day, take care. XX13 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's been raining here, but seems to be fairing up, but I don't think the forecast is wonderful. Yesterday was a really nice day, warm and breezy.I didn't go out as planned, I've had a mild UTI and was drinking a lot of water, so needed the toilet a lot, but it seems to have gone now ( the UTI, not the toilet), I was only up once during the night which is normal for me anyway.I must go out today though.Yesterday I just did a bit of cleaning and washing, there's another load to go in, so I'd better do that.DH had to ring the Drs. An insect bite that he'd got when we were in the park on Wednesday developed into a massive blister. This has happened to him before when we were in Oz and he nearly ended up in hospital on 24 hours of intravenous antibiotics.Yesterday he had to send a pic to the Dr, who rang him, and emailed a prescription to the chemist we use for our regular tablets. He's got that, so it shouldn't develop any further.Sorry to hear your eye has been poorly Nanny, hope you'll soon feel better.Hope everyune has a good day, take care folks.15

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The wind and rain have yet to arrive here but it's not looking promising. I think the coastal areas are to get it the worst so we should escape the battering. Yesterday was lovely. The washing dried in no time and I found time to sit out and read in the sunshine.
DGD called up with her results before they set off back for the caravan. She was very happy with her grades and is now looking forward to studying her chosen subjects in 6th form. It was lovely to see her. They are all staying at the caravan for another week but she is coming back Monday night to spend a bit of time with her DDad and family. We are going to meet up for a meal out when she gets back which will be lovely.
It's lockdown review day today and I really can't see the rules being relaxed. Although we are free from outbreaks hereabouts the figures are still high in the highly populated city area miles away from us. So frustrating.
Today brings the excitement of the Friday Tidy. I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom yesterday morning to get a head start. I have promised myself I will steam clean in the nooks and crannies in the kitchen appliances too. But that means doing battle with the steam cleaner converting it into a hand steamer. It looks as though it should be easy but never is and I have lost the will to live by the time its sorted!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. TOPSY if you are not lucky with the house you viewed I have my fingers crossed you will soon find another. MEANMARIE I hope the op went well. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Good morning folks.CAMELOT - ☹️ I'm really hoping there's a negative test.TA - 🎉 congratulations to DGD. All that worry has worked out.MM - hope your op was successful and you're feeling better by now.Yesterday morning was lovely, sunny and warm. I was at the building society by 9.00am for the cheque and then had to hang about until 10.00am for the bank to open. I wasn't going to risk not getting a parking spot again so had a meander into a bookshop 😁 and then had a wee spell in a cafe. A cinnamon pastry somehow ended up in front of me. 🤔 I needed the pleasurable moment to overcome paying the deposit for the new boiler.
The new dish drainer arrived in a huge box. It's an exact match for the old scabby one so I'm delighted. Even DM approved!
As I've been writing this the sky has moved from bright and white to very dark and grey. The bad weather is heading our way.Now it's time to wish everyone a very happy Friday.13 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Wild and windy here, a bit of rain too. Yesterday I did two wash loads and got them dry, took the final thing, a king size duvet cover off the line and miraculously it was when I had taken it off that the line snapped. It is right at the end so OH says he can fix it.
New shower screen in placE and I need to scrub the bathroom again but am waiting for the sealant to set fully - although it is meant to go off overnight I usually feel sealant takes longer so will wait until this evening for a shower. I did scrub the handbasin and stuff for safety's sake.
Went for a lovely fresh walk but it was still damp and slippy underfoot.
Nothing much more to say, life does seem small now. Best wishes to Marie and hope you all have a decent day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -

Its been raining heavily in the night and its blowing a gale now but no rain although more is due later. I am off to do the weekly shop this morning hope to get in and out fairly quickly. Not sure about dinner tonight but will get something this morning when I am out.
Had my hair done yesterday t-bar highlights in a lighter blonde shade he has done such a good job and he straightened it for me as well, he said I look like a different womanit certainly gives me a lift !! not a bad price either so I am very pleased.
The usual dog walk later but I dont think I will get a bike ride in as its meant to rain.
Topsy hope you are ok xx
Marie thinking of you hope all went well xx
Have good days all xx12 -
Very windy here but amazingly the climbing french and runner beans are still in place. Youngest son cancelled their visit yesterday as they are all poorly with heavy colds. I know it is sensible as I am vulnerable but I was disappointed as it makes for a very long day. Gardener came yesterday and has done a great job of mowing and cutting back. I am now going to prep and cook apricots. I will freeze them for future breakfasts. Somehow I managed to order 5 boxes of apricots instead of 5 individual fruits!12

Interesting night mobile rang at 3.30 am from DMIL home to say she was being taken to hospital they couldnt reach BIL as he had lent mobile to his DD Had to call landline
