O/S Daily Monday 17 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch was rolls, and picnic food. Dinner was chicken goujons and veg rice. Dinner tonight will be fish.
Back to work today.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
Thank you nmlc for starting us off. Today feels a lot cooler for which I am very grateful. I only woke up once in the night as well so I actually feel rested this morning which is just as well as the grandchildren will be here in a little bit
My knitting mojo is back and I have nearly finished a teddy bear for one of my little nieces. I'll make some clothes for the bear as well so she can dress him up. I am ploughing through my birthday knits as I will need to start my Christmas present knitting next month.
Chicken curry for dinner tonight. We had salad yesterday so there are lots of leftover bits to have for lunch. I made an apple and blackberry pie as well but underestimated how much sugar to put it so it was a bit sharp to taste. Everyone ate it all though so it couldn't have been too awful and at least Steve has stopped nagging me now
Right, I hear the dulcet tones of my grandchildren so I will love you and leave you. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, glad you had a good night dumpling. I sadly had a terrible night but hoping a busy day at work will sort that for tonight.
DD, DP and baby Sophie are going on holiday today, hope the weather's kind as it's a caravan, I'll get her to give you a wave on her way by dp1. She was a bit stressed yesterday trying to get everything organised so I dropped off some salad stuff and left them to it!
I did a bit more painting of the wall at the side of the house but I think that will go on hold for now as it's to rain on and off for the next few days. The garden is in need of some steady rain as long as it remembers to stop!
Sorry to hear of your relative's passing Gers, that's no age at all.
Have a happy Monday, take care. XX10 -
Good morning, another wet gloomy day here.Looks as if it 's been raining all night, I wish this weather would lift a bit. No thunderstorms though. It was chilly last night, we put the fire on.Didnt' go out yesterday, but I did my ironing, so that's something. There's not a lot planned for today, just the usual jobs. I usually visit an elderly friend on Monday mornings, but she's in hospital, her daughter texted last night. She's had 2 ministrokes in 10 days, not good.i was sorry to read you'd lost a comparatively young relative Gers, what a shock for the family.Hope everyone has good days anyway, take care folks14

Morning
Bit grey here and that really fine drizzle that gets you really wet (int milk brilliant) may have to put the duvet back in the cover soon but for now I'm enjoying being cool
Not a good sleep again but nothing new there. Camelot hope your DD and family gets some decent weather. Gers condolences for your relative that's soo young
Usual zero plans for today bar the magic cupboard and a swish around or limp around in my case. Food wise I finally made i rhubarb crumble yesterday so need to portion that up today. Tonight its a CBA cook of fish finger rolls and mushy peas
Have a good day all

Morning folks. It's very dark here, rain is coming. The reports of floods from down south look awful already.Yesterday I decided to buy a new dish drainer for the kitchen sink, the one here is all rusty and looks awful. I tried cleaning it with a Brillo pad but no chance. I found the perfect basic one on the Range website so drove out to the East End to buy it - not in stock. ☹️ When I got home I ordered it online instead. Mind you, I was disappointed to find that there's a delivery charge for it to go to the shop. Never come across that before.I enjoyed the drive to places I haven't been to for ages! Whole swathes of buildings have been demolished so there's lots of new stuff going up. Drove past the Emirates area with the Commonwealth velodrome and the huge Celtic FC across the road. The council have installed miles of new cycling lanes on each side of the very long London Road, all empty with cyclists still on the pavement! 🤣Thanks for comments about the remote outlaw in Oz, it's no age at all.Whatever you're doing doing I hope it's enjoyable. Knitting, reading, gardening, ironing, pottering or even nothing much. I've got a Zoom meeting at 9.00am and then going to meet a friend from back home at 11.30am. who will be at a local hospital. Looking forward to coffee and chat.Happy Monday to all.12

Morning all from a soggy mehefinland
Well a small piece of mehefin history was made yesterday in that Lagganlongneck was finally ridden by me. Its a year last March since I last rode so no doubt the aches will come by soon. She is so different to my poor Bruisemare, but you shouldn't make comparisons just enjoy the moment. After all the traumas we have had with this one I finally feel that we are getting somewhere.
The vets bill was horrendous as expected so its beans on toast for tea for some time lol
My cataract surgery means I can now see long distance again ( better than with my specs on!) but it does make me realise just how bad the other one is too. Hopefully they will fix it too. The downside is I cant see the computer or read as they are a fixed lens so a cheapo pair of glasses purchased until I can see the optician and get properly done. Have to wait about 4 weeks apparently..
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin

Morning everyone
Has been chucking it down here but seems to be more of a drizzle now - it looks like it's set for the day - sorry Camelot's DD!
Nelski - you made me 'need' a fishfinger sandwich for my lunch - I love them.
I'd better move as DD has just texted ' do you want to go for coffee?' so I'd better get up - I ate my breakfast in bed with my laptop. Then I have the day to myself as little one is at nursery this afternoon for one of her settling-in sessions - she's staying for 2 hours today.
Hope everyone has a good day11 -
Morning all.
Sorry to hear of your family's loss Gers. A shock for everyone I would imagine.
Sorry Nelski and Camelot that you had a wakeful night. Possibly a nap during the day? Or does that mean another bad night tonight? Difficult to know what to do for the best.
A bit dingy here today, but not actually raining, which is a pity because the garden desperately needs it.
I have to spend today trying to track down the glass face of my long case clock, (Don't ask!) You wouldn't think it possible to lose such a thing, would you? I don't remember seeing it when the stuff arrived out of store. I think that may be enough for today.
Hope everyone is more productive than me.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Remember when people had diaries and got mad when someone read them? Now they put everything on line and get mad when people don't.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.14 -
Good morning, we are back to a world of sog but the garden is loving the downpours. I have taken to looking at the met office prediction for a laugh since it is mostly wrong. Today, it was meant to be heavy rain earlier this morning and all that happened was a drizzle. There has been a lot overnight though.
Gers I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss, must have been a terrible shock.
Mehefin, hope you are not too achy and that you can get the other eye done soon.
Monna, tgat is the sort of thing I'd have stashed away in a very safe place and I had better not say more as that could jinx your search.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12
