O/S Daily Friday 14 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day again, yesterday it didn't clear and we had a short sharp shower around lunchtime but then was dull overcast for the rest of the day.
DH and DS1 organised and gone off to work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was roast chicken thighs, mash, carrots, broc, HG green beans and gravy. Tonight will be something and chips for the menfolk, I'll have something with salad.
I'll be heading to the SM first thing. I have some household admin to do today also.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a wet, gloomy morning here, I've had to put a lamp on. Yesterday was grey and chilly all day.I didn't do a lot yesterday. I was really tired after a bad night, but I did go out to the cheap freezer shop, which is not far, and that was it.Today I must go to the bank to pay a cheque in, we don't get many cheques now, and hardly use any, how things change.I'll probably look in one or two shops while I'm out, though I'm trying not to spend. I noticed last week that there were Christmas (sorry) cards on sale in charity shop!Hope everyone has a good Friday anyway - take care folks16

Morning Everyone,
We had rain yesterday, although it is cooler outside, I am still finding it very hot indoors.
Last day at the packing at the food bank - now everyone where is open and no one is in quarantine it is closing. A shopping store will open in the centre in September , which I have volunteered to help at , probably one hour a few times a week.
Need to to some admin before going out, due to rain about lunchtime - so no w/m on today.
Have a good Friday everyoneI am a Senior Ambassador on the Competitions Time Board and the Old Style MoneySaving Board.

Morning All
Grey this morning but we should have sunshine later, yesterday was very pleasant with late sunshine, a nice relaxing hour or so after work.
MM - Glad you have your op date, hope all goes well.
RR - Did the Estate Agent get into the house?
Nelski - you have the patience of a saint!
Looking forward to a quieter day at work today as it's only the new P1s in this morning, I should get something done without constant interruptions although I would imagine the parents will keep up their constant phone calls. We had a dad phone yesterday checking that we wouldn't take his children to the Covid testing station without telling him!
I called at the allotment after work and picked peas, beans and some purple sprouting broccoli, all very nice until I noticed a cooked caterpillar on the plate!
Hope you have a good day, take care.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Gloomy here too but still no rain, nor is any forecast. I had to use the hose on the pots and tubs last night and I hate having to do that. But they were so dry and I didn't want everything dying..
I wonder what time the noise will start next door this morning! I noticed last night that the rendering is now all off the back but don't know about the side I can't see that unless I walk round and have a nosy! I refreshed the bird bath too as it had a film of dust on the top! I was glad I hadn't any washing out or it would have been to wash again!
Today is earmarked for the Friday Tidy and boy does it need it. The house didn't get touched in the tropical weather but it still feels very warm indoors despite being cooler outside.
We are supposed to hear today if the local restrictions will be lifted. I have my doubts on that sadly and I am missing seeing the DGDs so much. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -

Plan today is to do a couple of volunteer calls this morning then depending on the heat Ill join TA with a Friday Tidy
Food will be a pizza tonight hopefully I wont be causing any injuries with that
Need to do next weeks meal plan then sort the shop for tomorrow. Another exciting day here then
Have a good day all

Morning folks.Yesterday turned out fine, no major hassles. I got to the cafe for DM's tarts then Marks for my parcel. I'll be returning the jumper as the colour just doesn't suit me. It's called 'buttercup', it's really a pale'ish yellow, pure cotton and reduced to £7.00 from £19,50 so a real bargain. My ruddy complexion didn't look good with it. ☹️☹️This morning I'm off to the dentist with my sore molar. I'm a mix of pleasure and sadness about it. And a little anxious about what needs done though not about having it done.In the afternoon the boiler engineer is coming to put in new hoses and heat exchanger. It'll cost hundreds of pounds but the company don't take cheques. 😱. Cash, debit card or bank transfer only. I'm not handing over cash!My thoughts are with the annoyed, the unwell, the worried, the sad and the busy. Happy Friday to all.14

Morning all
We have had rain !! it feels blissful and is a lot cooler today as a consequence first time this week it has not been scorching. Nothing exciting planned for today need to have a tidy up and then get the dogs out for a good walk now its cooled off bit, yesterday I managed to get dd out with me on the electric bikes she has been a bit frightened of the electric bit up till now but she did it and we went for a quick 4 mile bike so might try and get out later again.
Not sure about dinner tonight there is some salmon or steak so will be one of those with either SW chips or new potatoes and salad.
Camelot yes the Estate agent did get in (we were with him) and he managed to take some fairly decent photos despite the house looking like a pit !! it went on the market yesterday and there is a viewing on Saturday !! best case will be for them to love it and put an offer in straight away, fingers crossed someone will like it and make an offer soonish.
Marie Im so pleased you have the date for your op and its not too long to wait xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Cool and overcast here, temperature of only 17°, about half what it has been.
I should be doing the Friday Tidy but so far haven't started. In fairness, I did think it was Thursday, but possibly that's no real excuse.
MM good to know you have a date for your surgery.
If I have time, I might run the mower over the back garden. It doesn't want mowing but it is much easier to clean up the leaves that way than raking them up. Because of the hot, dry weather, the trees have been shedding their leaves much earlier than I'd normally expect.
Hoping that everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning all! I was up a few hours ago but didn't go to sleep till late and then woke up too hot so I've just snoozed on the sofa for a bit. It's still raining off and on and again, is cool outside , warm inside. Did have a bit of fun and running around last night. I was watching some catch up TV when I felt sprinkles of water on my arms. There was water dripping ever so slowly through the ceiling. Ran [ok, maybe not ran, maybe hurried] upstairs, discovered I'd forotten to close the bedroom window, water all over the sill pooling away and dripping down behind the radiator. So I did what any sane person would do and picked up the pile of clothes that was to go to rag in the bedroom and stuffed them all along the windowsill to soak it all up. The windowsills slope ever so slightly towards the window so there was a sizeable pool there. Also yesterday because it was cooler OH decided to start digging out the grass to make the patio so I couldn't watch him working and do nothing so I moved 48 patio slabs from the back to the front, one at a time. I definitely had my excercise yesterday. Pulled up all the horsetail roots that had crazy paved under them. After that i took some beans, tomatoes and potaoes round to OHs mum.I'm feeling quite creaky today with the usual aches and pains making a reappearance, I wish I knew what it was. It did ease off a bit for a week or so when I stopped taking one set of tablets but it's back with a vengeance now. Possibly not helped by yesterdays shennanigans. I'm a !!!!!! for just going till I should have stopped an hour before. I'm just stubborn and don't want to admit that maybe I'm not in the best physical shape. Although I am fitter than I was at the start of lockdown. Moving five slabs would have finished me off then.Hope your burns are better nelski..beware of motlen cheese...MM, good to know your op won't be long. Camelot, my parents always wanted me to be a teacher, and your stories are exactly why I didnt want to be
Scarlet, had to laugh at yor cheque, they are pretty much obsolete now aren't they? Except for the incredibly odd occasion... Gers, happy dentist visiting! Ruby, before log you and your family are going to be entering triathalons! DP1, I used to go to Morecambe every year for a music weekend and the highlight of that weekend was usually the breakfast in Morrisons
Monna, your thought for the day yesterday is the way I feel about a lot of people a lot of the time
Hey all reading along, have a finally cool Friday!

Morning all, much cooler a day today and a fair bit of cloud. I had a little walk yesterday, I wanted to be outside but the building work/radio/singing noise at the back was too bad to be out there for long. I rang my cousin for a chat whilst I was walking and we might meet up next week or the week after. A friend rang when I got back in so I was all chatted out after that.We had pizzas last night after my Mr. T delivery, well they certainly wouldn't fit in the freezer! Not one of DH faves but like I said to him ,he can't have his every day or we'd all be bored- his unfavourite list is a lot longer, and he says he isn't fussyNot much else happening so I'll wish you all well and love you and leave you x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
