This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Light cloud this morning and not raining (yet). Yesterday was lovely and sunny with a lovely breeze, the washing was dry in no time. Bedding went back on last night, maybe that's why I had a good long sleep.
I picked lots of beans from the allotment that have all been put in the freezer, there are thousands to come so will go again tomorrow for the next lot. Also sorted some pots in the garden and had a general tidy.
DD and Co should be coming for lunch but I haven't heard what time, I think it will be about 12 as that's around when Sophie has her lunch. I've made a quiche this morning for me and a spinach and onion tart for them - remembered to make vegan pastry this time! A batch of oatie biscuits have also been made and are cooling, I may have tested one for breakfast!
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX11 -
Morning all.
Alternate periods of sun and cloud here, we've had breakfast, after I've washed up I'll walk the dogs. I've more washing needs doing but we don't have enough water or solar power so it will have to wait.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Good morning everyone
Thank you Gers for starting us off, hope you are well x
Sorry for being absent, I thought that my life had become so boring and small, nothing interesting to say and I have been very fed up so I didn't want to be all negative on here. I have been reading along though and my goodness, some of you are really going through it so I wanted to offer a big cwtch to anyone who wants one x
I have been spending money that we don't have to try and cheer myself up which obviously didn't work so now I have to try and deal with the consequences of that. I have been lurking on the DFW board but am too scared to post. To top it off, our tumble dryer decided to give up the ghost and so I had to buy another one. I am very annoyed with myself for doing this again, I can't talk to Steve about it as we nearly split up the last time I got us into a shed load of debt. I'm just going to have to figure it out on my own.
I want to do some cooking today and I am planning to make some sausage rolls and maybe some scotch eggs too. I also have to make another apple pie to use up some Bramleys and finally I am supposed to make chicken fajitas for dinner. I feel as though I am going to be spending a lot of time in the kitchen.
Lee managed to pass his GCSE maths so now he has both his English and Maths qualifications. He can't wait to go back to college when it reopens next month. Phoebe is still at work for now. She is not enjoying it much especially while the Eat Out to Help Out scheme is running. Hopefully things will quieten down a bit next month. She doesn't want to go back on her antidepressants so I am just keeping a watchful eye on her. Lee has heard from the Gender Identity Service finally and he has a telephone appointment with them next month, fingers crossed it all goes well for him.
Well, that's all my news for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning! I started the thread and then was distracted.Yesterday the weather was mostly sunny apart from sudden sporadic short bursts of heavy sharp rain which only lasted about one or two minutes each before the sun reappeared and the rain dried up. Weird weather again. My attempts to install the printer for an elderly friend were eventually successful. Two goes at downloading the drivers, confused messages about the USB cable and the look on the face of my friend when I asked for her WI-FI password all made for an entertaining hour or two! She's never heard of a password and was surprised and delighted to be directed to the wee card on the back of her router. Now that it's working wirelessly she'll need to re-arrange a piece of furniture to fit the printer into it's new home. After I left her I did a little driving tour to investigate a couple of buildings which I was keen to see. Nothing spectacular, just a pair of semi-detached houses reputedly designed by our very own Charles Rennie Mackintosh which are in a housing estate and now owned by the council. Image being those very lucky council house tenants to live in a B listed CRM house.Today I'll go out at some point. I need to walk, even if it's a dodgy walk. I'm developing a hunchback from sitting over the laptop too long so that area needs some specific exercises too. I'll be spending hours exercising various bits of me as I really can't become immobile or limited. 🤔For now I hope that everyone is doing well or getting better. Nice to see you again HESTER.Happy Sunday to all.12

Morning all
We are due rain for an hour at 11 and then its mean to be nice for the rest of the day I hope so as we really want to get out on the bikes for s long ride have not been out much this week and I really miss the exercise.
Has my sister and co here last night for a bbq, we started off outside which was windy but ok but then we got mobbed by wasps so made a hasty retreat indoors, did most of the tidying up last night but have just done the last bits and put the dw on, I have a towel load going in the wm too.
Not sure about dinner tonight but we have lots in I will see what the others fancy.
Dumpling maybe do a post on the debt free board ? I know its scary but from what I have read they are a lovely and very knowledgeable lot xx
Have good days all xx11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS for starting today's thread. The wind is back with us and it's not looking too promising out there. The wise man says we shall have rain by lunchtime. When I went out to the bin first thing it felt almost autumnal out there with lots of fallen leaves about. Maybe we will have an Indian summer says she hopefully.
So another day of same old same old here. I have a pan of soup on the go as, once again, freezer stocks are dwindling. A little cottage pie made for my lunch along with a spare one to put in the freezer.
Thanks to the nudge from NELS about Death Cleaning I think, after lunch, I might resume emptying all the boxes that came from my DM's. The job came to a halt after I had unpacked all the glassware. Thanks to DD all that has found new homes. She kept a few things for herself and then offered the rest, via her FB page, free to a good home. It's amazing how many people suddenly found they needed something when it was going for free!
Yesterday I took my planned bus ride along the valley bottom.to the next little town along. I got the f and v bits I needed from the big Co-op there. It was almost deserted. After a little wander I got the bus back again and it seemed much busier than last week so not sure I will venture beyond town again. Our little bus was still very quiet.
Have a good day folks if you can and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Hello all, I think the rain has finally stopped ! Better not speak too loudly though or it might start again. My baking day went well yesterday but I ran out of steam after a doz banana and fruit muffins and a doz banana and choc chip ones, most of them made it into the freezer.......... quality control swooped down in case they were horrible
I also made a banana cake for Dad. Today I shall pull my socks up and attempt the scones, but I want to do cheese ones and if they turn out ok, some apple ones as there are rather a lot of apples in the fruit bowl. I also want to make some sausage rolls for the freezer but I'll get my chef on the pastry making for those, he makes such lovely light pastry
Dumpling sorry you're in a pickle, hope it can be sorted out but I agree with RedRuby please join the DFW, just writing it down for others may help. Well done to Lee on his GCSE's.TA glad you were able to go out and the Co-op was quiet.Right coffee time over, scones here I come !!Take care and hugs to all.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Dumpling l have just read your post and wondered if you might be happier posting on the debt free board under a new user name? They also helpful on there and don't judge you.10

Morning
Grey but dry here at the moment. Put the quilt back on again and returned to being way to hot so need to rethink that one.
Dumpling Maybe you should think about talking to Steve about it you always tell us how supportive he is and ultimately he's spent and enjoyed the stuff you have bought too so this could be a lot easier if you face it together. Agree with Rubes about posting on DFW they seem very non judgemental on there
Asda had a few missing items yesterday so I have treated myself to a cheeky extra delivery from Sainsburys for this afternoon. I was well behaved on one hand though no freezer stuff and badly behaved on the other with a bottle of baileys to make up the minimum delivery (honest guv) Got some sunflowers too just for a smile
Last nights food was a stuffed pitta with fakeaway doner tons of salad and pickles Tonight I want to use up some veg from the freezer so Im having a meat free roast with yorkies spinach sprouts roast spuds cabbage leeks and gravy. Probably a good thing I live alone after that
Have a chilled Sunday all
