O/S Daily Sunday 16 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy damp start to the day.
Menfolk moving about as they've got some karting booked at a venue an hour away. I'm going to watch.
Dinner last night was chicken enchilades, skinny fries/salad. Not sure what we'll be eating as have some picnic type stuff but they will want something more substantial later.
Keep safe and well x

Morning ,
Thanks for starting us off nmlc. Raining here and it is due to stay all day. We had planned to go and visit an arboretum today - but that is off due to the weather. Instead we will venture out to the local garden centre. This will be our first trip out since the lockdown easing .
Will be good to look round the garden centre, we will also stop and have something to eatI am a Senior Ambassador on the Competitions Time Board and the Old Style MoneySaving Board.

Good morning everyone and thank you for starting the thread nmlc. Karting sounds fun!
We have had lovely rain overnight, I cut the grass yesterday so the rain is really welcome. It has stopped for now but I went down to look at the stream and the trees dripped on me. So now I'm a bit soggy as well as having midge bites all over my back, damp and itchy.
No particular plan for today, I might go for a walk if the rain stops for a bit, if not I can always find things to do.
I have just read back on yesterday's posts and TA I'm sorry that you are feeling so low. Our infection rate seems to be going up too and I have been wondering if we might have a local lockdown quite soon.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11 -
Morning folks and thanks for the start NMLC. I was up and at 'em early as grocery delivery due between 8 and 10. Just had e-mail saying no subs or missing items so all as ordered.
The weather looks very gloomy and not forecast to improve throughout the day. Once again the thunderstorms are predicted for the next few days. I wonder if we will finally see one! Anyway as usual nothing planned and as meet ups with friends and family are still not allowed, indoors or out, it's going to be another long and boring day.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care one and all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning everyone
Just been having an early read with my breakfast before little grand daughter arrives for the day as her mummy is at work. We'll go down to my mam and dads this morning and hopefully get a play in the garden later, though its still dull and cloudy.
Just had a short chat with DD in Sweden who had already been for a swim in the nearest lake and wanted to show me how blue the sky is! She's having glorious weather just now - i'm pleased as she's been getting a bit fed up as a few of her friends have been coming back to England for visits with family, even though work and the Swedish government advise them not to. They are then meant to quarantine when they get back to England, but she says they're not doing that. i'm pleased she's being so sensible.
Anyways, i bet move myself - hope everyone has a good day11 -
Morning All
Sorry you're still in lockdown TA, hang in there.
No rain here but it is quite cloudy, the sun came out yesterday afternoon and it was glorious again. I've noticed a real difference in the length of the days now, no more reading in bed with the curtains open at 10pm.
Builder came yesterday and can't see a particular problem with the damp wall although the block paving in the driveway is quite close to the house. He suggested the roughcast at the side of the house is repainted so I started on that yesterday - it's going to be a long job and I'll have to get someone in to do the high bits, ladders are too scary!
Off to DDs for lunch today but I'll not stay long as they're going to a caravan in Berwick tomorrow and want to get organised. I must also do some shopping as apart from salad from the allotment the fridge is just about empty.
Enjoy Sunday, take care. XX11 -
morning folks
to be dry here but a bit cooler. Suits me!
I’ve been out for first dog walk of the day and we’re heading back out for a walk by the sea.Grand Prix to watch later. DH will watch all and I’ll dip in and out.Dark load to put into WM.
DD came round yesterday with eldest DGS. He’ll be 5 next week and is really helpful. He loved photocopying a couple of things and putting things into envelopes.Ok have a good day folks.Hope lockdown eases soon for you TA.X11 -
Morning all
Its a bit overcast here today with rain due later this afternoon, we ended up having a busy day yesterday, we cycled 18 miles on the bikes then back home and had a quick snack for a late lunch and then out with the dogs gave them a good walk and then stopped in the pub for a drink its very well organised and we sat far apart from everyone, came home and cooked dinner and had a fairly early night as we were shattered. Today will be pretty much the same with hopefully a bbq instead of the pub.
The people viewing dd's house loved it and managed to see past the dirt and clutter, they have asked to go and have another look Monday once they have measured their furniture to see if it will fit, fingers crossed they make an offer !!!
Beds have been stripped and are nearly done in the wm, may have to put them in the TD as rain due later, the kitchen needs a swish and swipe and that will do for today.
TA sending hugs to you hopefully things will be eased soon xx
Have good days all xx

Sorry, been missing for a couple of days. Nothing much happening here. Cool and wet, which I find preferable to the hot sun, though I have to be careful where I say that.
RedRuby, hopeful signs for getting shot of the house, but beware! I sold my house to the first viewers but it took 2x1/2 years before I actually managed to get a transaction through, even though I was not dependant on having somewhere to move into.
TA, hope the blues have lifted a bit today.
Absolutely no plans for doing anything here. It's a day of rest, so will be resting. Much like any other day then.
THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY

Morning folks - another grey start to the day, perhaps the clouds will shift to show some blue sky later?TA - such a shame for you and the family. Fingers are crossed that the gloom will lift for you soon.RR on my other hand my fingers are crossed for a quick and successful sale.My visit to the elderly friend yesterday was really pleasant. I couldn't sort her techie problems, not cos I'm rubbish but because she needs some new equipment. Old printer not found or recognised by laptop and new portable phone not working. I fixed her MS account and advised that it's not possible to stream her laptop sound through a radio.
We browsed wired / wireless speakers for her. I'll take round DM's old HP printer to see if it can connect as it's bluetooth and not so old!
DM had a good afternoon doing Scrabble and crosswords, now she's still fast asleep.I've been doing some more of the online data entry stuff which is still fascinating me. There's a book to finish off and DM's pillbox to fill. That's easy enough apart from having to quarter one of her tablets which is just a pain to do, I have to use tweezers as it's so fiddly. Not a big problem really and it'll keep me occupied for a while.
A wee while ago I got word from Australia that a member of my extended family (an out-law) has died of a heart attack aged 49 years. He was a police officer, very gregarious and 'sorted'. Unfortunately the heart attack seems to be lifestyle related. I'm hoping it's a wake up call to my youngest nephew.Anyway... I hope that everyone has a good day. Happy Sunday to all.❤11 -
Camelot - I live very close to Berwick - unfortunately the weather forecast isn't too good for this week. Lots of places doing the half price meals scheme though!
Dad wasn't feeling too well this morning, so I took little one down to walk along the nearby prom and have a turn on the swings instead. There were men racing buggy things with big kites attached and she loved watching them - I have no idea what this is called!!9
