Weekly Flylady Thread 31st August 2020
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

How often do you doze off?
Due to my Hypothyroidism I tend to nod off a lot. It's quite amusing sometimes, one minute I'm reading on my kindle, next minute I'm jolting awake because I've dropped it on myself. I've also fallen asleep holding cups, my phone, my knitting, a potato :D and one other thing that can't be explained on here 😂 I'm not too bad…

Is anyone else less OS in / due to lockdown?
Is anyone else less motivated to be OS due to the lockdown situation? Comparison really is the thief of joy ....... social media posts about people saving hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds or spending so much time with family or developing new hobbies, skills, and interests. I really thought that lockdown would mean…

NHS car lease
I am due to renew my lease car in Jan 21 and the lease company that my trust uses say I cannot get a Peugeot e2008 electric car that is £50 less per month and zero emissions, than the one I lease now? They say it's because the value of the car is greater, my wage has increased by £2500 since I took this contract and they…

Trying to save some electrical items by soldering, where do I start? (mostly in tools)
I have a good soldering iron but its one of things I never got around to learning as when I was about 6 years old I badly burned my hand on a soldering iron and it got infected due to brother leaving one on floor. The main issues I have when I try and solder is I'm mine when its a circuit board but right now I wanted to…

Handbag updating
Hi, not sure if this is the right forum but I'm looking for any insights on re-covering a peeling faux leather bag. The structure and functionality is still in great shape but the actual covering is peeling and large sections have come off. Its no longer available to buy so I cannot get a replacement and I thought I'd give…

Best way to do washing as a single person?
I have mild autism so my brain thinks to only use washing machine once per week, rarely is it above that except when I wash bedsheets but even then I try and put in things like underwear and the odd t shirt. The only time I have varied from this plan was when I was in shared accommodation and had bills included so would…

What's the lowest monthly grocery bill you have recently managed to live on as a single person?
I'll be switching to shopping for myself soon, our previous monthly shopping bill was £260 per month (around £65 a month for me and my previous partner) As I plan to save for a deposit for a year, I hope to bring this down to £160 a month (£37 a week) for myself. Maybe cruise the discount yellow label aisle at Tesco around…
