O/S Daily Thursday 27 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I had baked fish and veg. I took the chicken out of the freezer but left it in the fridge so its still frozen, will sort that as had planned to make chicken and mushroom pie, mash, peas and gravy for dinner.
The last 2 days at work have been hectic - tech update did not happen and it'll be a couple of weeks before it does, but we were much busier than we have been with all sorts of queries - I'm thinking as the children are due back to school week after next people are starting to return to a more normal routine. I'm now on days' off and have the bonus of bank holiday on Monday so not back to work until Tuesday. I have several jobs I need to get done today which I'll get going with at a more reasonable hour,
I'll try to get the washing line dried too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Back to rain this morning and much cooler, seems as though summer has left us. Washing is on the pulley, may have to finish it off in the TD later.
Called to see DD on my way home yesterday, Sophie was in good form, she has a very hearty chuckle now. Her hair is thickening up and is still white so she looks like she has a halo (but don't be fooled!).
Work is still busy but settling down a bit, there's a cold doing the rounds already so quite a few children off and one member of staff. It was pretty chilly in the building yesterday as we have to have as many windows open as possible and there's no heating on yet.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX13 -
Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.It's cloudy and damp here. Yesterday was the same but we managed quite a long walk, it got us aout of the house anyway. We are going away in the caravan for a few days, leaving on Monday, down to N Yorks, we'll enjoy that. Even if it rains we'll find something to do, it's not as if we have small chi;ldren to amuse.I must iron today before it develops into a tottering pile, .which it can with alarming speed. Also, I would like to pop over to a nearby shopping centre for some towels at As*a Home, and no doubt look in a few other places while I'm there, not that there's anything I need but that's never stopped me!Last year I decided to make a real effort not to buy clothes unless I really need them, and to buy from CS's when I could, or in sales. I've had some lovely things from the CS's often stuff I could never afford brand new, and it's become a habit now.. Years ago I wouldn't have been seen dead in a CS, how things change!! I usually look for discount codes when buying new as well, that can be a good saver.Anyway, I'll stop waffling, and wish everyone a good Thursday - take care folks.14

Good morning folks.Damp, dank and dark here too. Another day for sitting down with a good book.My long session at the dentist yesterday was fine. Root canal treatment has changed since I last had it over 20 years ago, plus the use of a dental dam really helped. Now I've got a temporary crown for two weeks. Already the pain has settled down. The dental surgery is just across the road from the fabulous cake shop so nipped in to buy a couple for the dentist and the nurse, one for DM and one for me. 😀 I prefer the plainer pastries rather than the blousy confections even though they look fabulous.Nothing much on the agenda today apart from the cleaner coming, I'll go out when she's here. Then I've got some small things to wrap as part of a birthday present for a friend. My thoughts are with everyone and wish you all a very Happy Thursday.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. No wifi when I first got up but now up and running again. A day of two halves by the sound of it. A fine morning but the rain will be back later.
I had a lovely afternoon with DGD yesterday and going to the carvery made life feel almost normal, though I know we are far from it. The chef carved the meat, then the plate moved on to another chap who added your veg. We ended up with the most enormous plate full! Even so, we were determined to make room for a pud and both enjoyed treacle sponge. Mine with custard, DGD's with cream. Oh it was so good! And with the Gov discount it was a real bargain. What a shame it's coming to an end. DGD came home with me for a few hours and we had a game of Monopoly, which I haven't played since Bob used to enjoy playing with the girls. Of course I was soundly beaten!
Back to a no plans day so will probably make a head start on the Friday Tidy by cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. I know how to live! I still feel stuffed from yesterday so a sensible eating day is on the cards.
Have a good day folks and (HUGS)) for all in need of them. GERS I'm pleased all went well yesterday. TOPSY I hope something turns up soon. Take care all x

Morning everyone
I had a lovely treat yesterday - DD took me to the local Chinese restaurant for tea for a birthday treat - its not till next Tuesday but she had a babysitter for last night so we had a baby-free meal. It was delicious - we were both so full!
This morning she's going to take me up to Aldi as I have a big shopping list. It's about a month since I had a Tesco delivery and it's impossible to get a slot unless you want your shopping arriving between 10 and 11pm. Also they've put their delivery prices up and there's no longer cheap flexible slots.
Then little one is spending the day with me as DD has been asked to work an extra shift. I don't mind as I'm back to work next Thursday so will only really see her at weekends. Also its given me the excuse to put the heating on for a little while to take the chill off! Ridiculous in August
I'd better get moving - hope you all have a good day

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
Yesterday was really rather pleasant, warm sunshine but not too hot so I enjoyed a walk and then read in the garden, did a few jobs. And no raging wind to wake me up so am a bit more rested.
Today I will do a Friday Tidy but possibly a bit half-heartedly as I seem to have lost my mojo. It is not helped by living with people who have no interest in tidiness or possibly cleanliness and I do sometimes wonder if they would notice if I just left it. However that would upset me.
I had a garden full of small birds a little while ago but now the squirrels have spotted refilled feeders and are trying to take over. One fell out of a tree the other day, just managed to catch a branch mid-plummet, I expect it was too busy thinking about food and digging holes in the lawn to concentrate.
On Sea I have done some tidying, I'll get on with knitting some baby things.
Gers, good to hear that the dental appointment went well.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning
Your right Bella hopefully there will be a last blast of sun for a "good riddance 2020" party Mind you there could be an Indian summer who knows
Not much happening this week. The baby trainee terrorist came but said it was just to let me know he wouldn't be coming round again mmmmm think that could of been done on the phone. Anyway the sweetener is that my fav terrorist is taking me for a gym session in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to that as at the moment I don't feel there is much progression
Bombarded with new volunteer calls atm puts a lot of my moans into perspective.
Food wise I tried a new recipe this week which blew my socks off but I suspect ill be a real marmite one for some ....sorry Gers Anyway it was cod fillets baked with a topping of a garlic anchovy and caper paste. so tasty and defo on the regular list now
Tonight its my favourite cheese and bacon burger night soo bad and yet soo good. That and my guilty pleasure series Married at First Sight. Doesn't take much to please me
Have a good day all14 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here this morning but more rain due in the afternoon, will get the dogs out for a walk this morning so we dont get caught in it. OH has a few days off which is nice and hopefully we will be able to get out on our bikes a bit more, wont be today though as dd has to go into work and I am pup sitting.
Bella her house move seems to be going well (touch wood) but these things can take time but hopefully by Christmas she will be well rid of the evil ex !! Hope your mum is ok xx
We went to the pub last night for a meal under the eat out scheme, our pub is doing 50% off everything so OH and I had a steak chips peas onion rings tomato and mushroom for £8 each !!! it was such good value, I think Monday is the last day so we might go again the scampi and chips was £6 !!
I am doing a lemon and garlic chicken thing for dinner from the PON recipe book so will see how that turns out, Nels that cod dish sounds fantastic any chance of the recipe ? Hopefully we can have one last hurrah at the spa before autumn sets in.
Have good days all xx13
