Trying to save some electrical items by soldering, where do I start? (mostly in tools)

I have a good soldering iron but its one of things I never got around to learning as when I was about 6 years old I badly burned my hand on a soldering iron and it got infected due to brother leaving one on floor.
The main issues I have when I try and solder is I'm mine when its a circuit board but right now I wanted to repair a broken power button for bedroom pc, its not a normal one that is easily replaced, I kept trying to solder the 2 ends together but as its so small I kept near burning my hand or fingers it would take seconds if I could get a tool to hold it then just use my free hands for the wire and iron.
I have tried a small stand with crocodile clips but the clips broke after first use. and with the size of the things I am soldering i.e about the size of a pinkie nail I dont think they would ot worked anyway.

Mole grips with tape wrapped around the jaws to protect the itemObviously not clamped tight but enough to hold in placeThe grips will lay flat and are sturdy enough to stay put while you solderGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Try reverse action tweezers.

Yes it was more how tiny the item was, I wanted to just lower a wire onto the contacts and drip solder on with flux.I have a tiny case led that contact came off too, would just get another but its a non standard colour.0
