O/S Daily Wednesday 26 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still very blustery here, although dry underfoot after the rain yesterday morning, not cold though.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was stew and dumplings, mash and veg. Tonight will b fish, chips/jacket pot, beans/veg, I'll have baked fish and veg/salad.
On days off after today. Yesterday was busier, we'll see wat today brings.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
on way home after my last night shift, now got 2 days off. Things pretty much still the same at home, although ds2 was away visiting my ds1 for the weekend. That was better for me as I was working 3 x 12 hour day shifts. The house I looked at was given to someone else as they paid a holding deposit, so back to looking. I am exploring other options but nothing confirmed as yet. Will keep my fingers crossed that something comes up.Bit of sleep this morning then will try and declutter some of my clothes and other items that I no longer need. Also need to put a wash on.
redruby - thanks for thinking of me
Bella - thinking of you all.
hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care15 -
Good morning.Yesterday's weather was so foul I didn't step outside. Even tough it's still very dull now I have to go to the dentist for root canal treatment. One and a half hours in the dental chair though I am grateful to be seen. The remedial work from last wee is starting to wear out.On the way back I'll call in at the patisserie for a couple of lovelies for DM. I'll get myself one of the plainer pastries. That's about it for today. I hope that everyone has a good time. Happy Wednesday to all.14

Morning All
Shhh, it's not raining! Yesterday was absolutely awful, rain and high wind all day although it didn't seem that cold until I got home so I put the fire on for an hour, reminds me I must buy some more logs.
I had my hair cut which seems much better this time, I think she's back in the groove! I also called at Aldi for a few things, first time I've been in there for ages.
Good luck at the dentist Gers, an hour and a half sounds horrid.
Keep looking Topsy, something will turn up for you.
Right, another day at the funny farm beckons, parents were complaining yesterday as we sent a text out to say the children should be suitably dressed for the weather and they were up in arms that their little snowflakes may get wet!
Take care. XX14 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.Another wet morning here, I think it's the same for everyone thoughTopsy, it's a pity you didn't get that house you had your eye on, i was wondering what had happened. Hope something else comes along soon for you.I rang the Drs yesterday and was able to speak to the nurse, she told me to take a sample down, and sent a prescription for a short course of antibiotics to the chemist we use for medication, and it was delivered, so I've started them. Hopefully that'll be the end of it.I gave the kitchen an extra clean yesterday, everything seemed to need it, and actually scrubbed the floor on my hands and knees!! I used to do that every week, but for years now I've used a mop and bucket. I was wondering about a steam cleaner, though I have only 2 hard floors, it might not be worthwhile. The floor does look really clean after my efforts.I'm going to the shops today, and there's plenty to do at home, as usual.Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks15

Good morning everyone
It's not raining and the high winds have died down but it feels noticeably cooler which is lovely. I slept well and have woken up ready for the day. I'm planning on finishing off some of my knitting projects as I have at least 5 on the go. I've started knitting some dolls for my hairdresser's twin daughters. My hair looks great, she cut it a lot shorter than I usually have it and all my curls have come back. Lee is really pleased with his haircut too and she only charged us £16 for the both of us so I gave her a good tip. I have also rebooked for 6 weeks as she is only working part time now and gets booked up quickly.
Steve made a lovely cottage pie for dinner last night and tonight I am going to make some beef enchiladas with wedges. Lee wants to make pasties for lunch and I will make some cheesy leek filling as well as the enormous leek in the fridge is starting to go a bit yellow.
Topsy, I really hope you find somewhere suitable for you quickly x
Gers, good luck at the dentist x
ScarletRibbons, I hope the antibiotics work quickly and you are more comfortable x
I'm desperate for a cup of tea so I will sort that out in a sec, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Only light showers forecast for today, the sky is empty after yesterday's deluge. The wind looks to have dropped a bit too. I couldn't get to sleep last night, tossing and turning, so this morning I feel like a wet rag.
Eldest DGD came back from the 'van yesterday (DD and the other two are staying till the weekend) as she wanted to spend a bit of time with her DDad and family. But she has made room for her old grandma and we are going out for a meal today! (We are not breaking any lockdown rules as DD, girls and I form the permitted support bubble) It will be my first meal out since my birthday early March! We are only going to the carvery so nothing fancy but I am sure it will be enjoyed! And they do some lovely desserts if we can find room for one! I have booked us for 3.30 in the hope that it may be a bit quieter between main dining times! It all sounds very well organised as regards distancing etc so I am not worrying about that. It will feel strange putting "going-out clothes" on after all this time!
Yesterday I did a sort out in the kitchen, alas not much has been chucked sadly! But it does look a bit tidier and the oven got cleaned too! After my industrious morning it was a feet up reading afternoon.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. TOPSY I hope something comes along soon. GERS good luck at the dentist. Take care and stay safe folks x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I was woken in the night by the howling wind and couldn't get back to sleep, that's two nights of weather-induced sleeplessness. Wind is easing a bit but still blustery and not warm. The weatherman says no rain today, I've got a wash load of towels nearly finished.
Topsy I hope you find somewhere suitable soon.
RosyRed the wood pigeons here manage to squish themselves into the bird table although it looks small for them with its roof. It took them a few weeks to learn to do it but since then, those plus squirrels are in it all the time. Having typed that, they have just gone and one of the bluetits is there now.
Meanmarie, glad to hear you have a new surgery date.
Gers, I had a long appointment for my root canal but the dentist was quicker than she expected.
Had a pleasant day yesterday, despite foul weather and I do enjoy making a roast dinner, something we rarely bother with in the summer. Lots of chicken left for sandwiches too.
No firm plans today, the garden is still very wet, I might do some weeding. I might clean some windows, then again, I might not. I will probably go for a walk.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Hi everyone,
Topsy, I hope something crops up soon.Scarlet, I hope they do the trick, uti's are a pain, literally and figuratively.
Thankfully, yesterday's horrible weather seems to have passed over. Laura had an article to write yesterday so Steve and I took Esben on a quest for some vanilla slices to Betty's in Ilkley (and also to let him nap). Unfortunately there was a big queue and when I looked in the window the cake counter looked decidedly empty so we didn't stay. Ziggy is being clipped today so we will go over to Malham with her and have a walk over there.15 -
