O/S Daily Tuesday 25 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Overcast, and raining steadily, lots of laying water and rain forecast for all day - quite blustery too.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work., I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO roast pork, new potatoes, LO mash and veg, broc, LO yorkshires and gravy - all enjoyed. Tonight will be beef stew and dumplings - the right sort of food to match the weather!
Yesterday work wasn't very busy but it never is leading up o a bank holiday - the technology update didn't happen so it'll be at least 2 weeks before that can happen due to other works already planned.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Wet and windy this morning, I think the storm is on its way. Hopefully it won't be too bad but I've put some garden things away just in case.
I was full of energy when I got home from work yesterday so spent half an hour dead heading, cut the grass and then, just as I had come out of the shower I heard a hedge trimmer going, turned out it was my next door neighbour so I put my clothes back on and went to help. Everything looks a lot tidier but I see the hanging baskets are now looking a little past their best, the seasons are changing.
Lots of children off school yesterday with sniffles, sore throats and coughs, there's definitely a cold going round but I had to advise parents to take advice from their GP or NHS24 - better safe than sorry.
Haircut after work today, looking forward to it, the last one wasn't great, I think the hairdresser was out of practise!
Have a good day, take care. XX13 -
Morning Everyone,
Wet and windy here - Looks like it is set in all day. I am hoping the rain may ease enough for me to get out to the shops. If not I shall get on with my large ironing pile.
On Sunday managed to meet up at a garden centre to see MIL. SIL and her OH. My OH had not seen his family this year.
Tomorrow we are going out for a meal our W/A is on 2 Sept. I will be back at work, so celebrating early, also the 50% offer is on .

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc. Quite heavy rain here, it was really thumping down in the small hours, with wild winds. It woke me up but just as well as I was having yet more nightmares. But now l am quite tired.
I ended up having a busy day yesterday. Cleaned the oven, what a horrible job. Went for a walk up the hill to the shop where I was the only masked person, came back, put my shopping away and went for a walk in the other direction, scavenged some bits of rotten wood and came back. Mowed the lawn, then had fun crumbling the bits of wood into a bucket to go into the compost. Any non crumbling bits get whacked with a hammer, all very therapeutic.
Today is our wedding anniversary, 36 years. I am making a roast chicken dinner this evening, I probably won't do stuffing but we can have roasties, I'm pretty sure I made extra yorkshires and they will be in the freezer and there are vegetables and then fruit for pudding.
Looking at the rain lashing down, I don't think I'll be going far today, a bit too wild for me!
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
It's wet and darkish here, blooming weather, rain, rain, rain,Thanks for starting NMLC.Camelot, it's funny you should say about your last haircut not being great, the first haircut I had after lockdown wasn't very good, I was disappointed. When I went back for a second one a fortnight ago, I had my usual good cut, and I wondered if the hairdresser was just out of practice the previous time.I've got to do something about this UTI, I keep being ok for a day or so then it returns, it's no good, I'll ring the Dr today..We went to the seaside yesterday afternoon and walked and walked along the beach. It was busy, but easy to distance.Bella I was reading that your Mum was going to have palliative treatment only, so sorry.Hope everyone has a good Tuesday anyway, take care folks13

Good morning everyone
I was glad to wake up this morning after having bad dreams all night it felt. I am also having a haircut this morning along with Lee by our lovely mobile hairdresser. I am at a loss what style to have. I've looked at loads of pictures online but all the models are slim and pretty with thick hair and I have none of those attributes. A lot of my hair fell out a few months after I came home from hospital which was alarming but expected. It has stopped doing that now but it is still very fine. I will have to ask the hairdresser for her advice really.
The sausage rolls were made and scoffed so I have to make something else now. I think I will do a corned beef and potato pie as I have everything here for that. Steve made macaroni cheese for dinner last night which was ok, not as nice as usual as the pasta needed another 5 minutes cooking really but it all got eaten anyway. It is wet and windy here today so I think I will ask Steve to make a cottage pie for tonight with loads of veg and gravy.
Other than that, nothing exciting is happening here so it will b a quiet day of knitting. I am making a baby blanket for my new great-niece in waiting. She is due in 4 weeks so I had better get cracking. I have made her a card though so that's one thing off the list.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing. Take care xx

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Wet and windy here too, as it is for most of us today. The wind mustn't be too strong yet as the bird bath is still standing!.That's usually the first casualty. It's hard to believe I was sitting out in the garden reading yesterday and I had to come inside as I got too hot! Talk about erratic weather!
I am envious of the second haircuts. Thanks to the local lockdown my mobile hairdresser can't visit and I am desperate for another cut. It had got so long the first time I think she was frightened of cutting too much off so now it's just as bad as it was. If we face yet another week of lockdown I think I shall have to open Salon TA and chop bits off,
The noise maker was back next door yesterday to do more rendering. It's turning into a right Westminster job. I think there's just some bits at the front left to do but if he turns up to resume today in this weather I shall be surprised!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Happy Anniversary to the AODs. Take care and stay safe folks x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc, hugs to all those in need. Heavy rain and high winds here we are moving about quite a lot.
I had a bad night last night, only slept from 11 until 2, I spent my wakeful hours booking an apartment for four nights whilst the boat is in dry dock for blacking, we could stay on the boat but have to use a ladder to get on and off. It would be ok for me but I can't carry the dogs up and down a ladder. I would have liked to stay in a hotel as I love a hotel breakfast but Steve prefers an apartment.
I also did some more research on hearing aids, I may try to persuade Steve to go private, may be he'd be less grumpy if he could hear better and he wouldn't need to watch carp on YouTube at full volume.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.

Morning all.
Happy anniversary AOD. 36 years? You must have just about got him licked into shape by now. Enjoy your chicken dinner.
I'm with you all on hair cuts. My hair is impossibly fine (remember my mother trying, and failing, to get a ribbon to stay in it when I was small) and thinning. If not cut pretty carefully it looks like a moulting dandelion clock.
bella, lots of hugs.
Miserable looking day here. No matter, I still have boxes to sort and things to move from place to place. As soon as I get one room reasonably sorted it starts silting up again as things from other rooms are dumped in it "just for now."
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It's called Karma. And it's pronounced, Ha!I believe that friends are quiet angels

Good morning everyone. It's dark and wet outside. So far nothing too bad though there's time. After my outing yesterday I stripped my bed, washed the linen and put on clean sheets. The only other activity I did was to move my car, I like a particular spot in the street. 😎
There's nothing on the agenda today, if the weather clears I'll go out. If it gets worse I'll tuck up with a book. Tomorrow I've got a dental appointment for one and a half hours so I'll gather my mental strength for it.Take care everyone, and a happy Tuesday.12
