Old Style Daily Thread Monday 31st August

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning all
Chilly here but no rain I am up with a cuppa but still in my pyjamas just enjoying the peace till DH returns home with DS his last shift last night till he goes away for the week He is getting his new motorbike tomorrow so no more driving for me when he returns to work . We were going to go to the local boot sale but i am not sure as we have plenty to do here at home , I need to do a freezer inventory and DH wants to pick the rest of his blackberries at the allotment to make his wine .
Right I suppose i had better get dressed and make a start . Have a good day whatever you are up to enjoy the bank holiday
Hugs to those with worries or looking after poorlies xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Morning all.
Thanks fo getting us started bella, I didn't even realise that boot sales had started again. I don't think they have over here. You have stirred my conscience, my freezer is packed to the gunnels with...........what? I really should investigate.
Apart from that, I suppose today will consist of me walking round with things in my hands wondering where on earth I am going put them and what to do with them if there is nowhere for them to go.
I long for the day when all I have to do is clean the place.
It doesn't seem like a bank holiday, does it? I remember when they were days full of excitement with lots of interesting things going on. I wonder if we will ever get back to that?
Have as good a day as possible everyone, and find a treat for yourself.

Morning everyone
I'm going out with DD and little one to a farm/small zoo about an hours drive away - little one should love it. Only a certain number of tickets are sold so it will be less busy than usual which will be nice. i've got a load of washing to put out and then will get ready. The forecast is to stay dry with sunny intervals, so fingers crossed.
hope you all have a nice day14 -
Good morning folks. Thanks for starting us off BELLA.The sun is threatening to put in an appearance once more so I may venture out for a while. A friend has broken his bedside lamp so I'll go round with one of the spare ones from here, it'll be the one he gave DM years ago for her hall as he didn't need it anymore. Perfect recycling.I'll visit Waitrose to get a cherry pie which was out of stock on Saturday, it's one of the few foods which DM can actually taste properly. Now it's time to wish everyone a happy Monday especially if you are enjoying a bank holiday long weekend.12

Morning
On the face of it it looks like another scorcher of a day out there but truth is it blummin cold.
I normally love this bank holiday as monna said there is usually loads going on in the local area but not course this year so its another samey Monday
Showered and washing done. Used a medicated shampoo today as I seem to have developed the family psoriasis which is just what need! Anyway shampoo stinks so its a good job Im not planning on any close encounters.
Yesterday I binge watched Our Yorkshire Farm. Such an amazing family worth a look if you haven't already. Had brisket beef rolls for dinner some left for later so Ill have some of my ham and pea soup with those later.
Still on the decluttering mission and the garage is my focus its such a massive job Im just doing it bit by bit getting rid of the ridiculous number of jars and containers I seem to have accumulated Its a marathon not a sprint!
Anyway have a good bank holiday all11 -
Morning everyone
bella - thanks for starting us off x
Bright sunny start to the day here, although air is a bit chilly. I've just pegged a line of washing out on the line.
Today is going to be a lazy day hopefully with an easy lunch.
Back to work tomorrow but a short week but I'm working next Saturday and then the following Friday too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Bella and hugs to all those in need.
It's fffffreezing here the dogs have been out, Loulou leapt off the boat, widdled and leapt back on, Beano went for a proper walk, they are now both snuggled up on the sofa under their blankets.
I'm making a lamb casserole for tea, I doubt if Steve will eat it so I have a gammon steak in reserve.I
We will stay put today and move on tomorrow I think, I desperately need to go shopping but not sure when I'll for it in.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning folks and thanks BELLA. I wish I could say I had a lie in but sadly it was the usual story of waking up wide awake at silly o'clock.
So a day of same old same old here. If the buses weren't on a Sunday service for the BH I might have been tempted to have a little trip out. Unfortunately standing hours waiting for a few and far between bus doesn't hold much appeal. It's a beautiful day, blue sky and sunshine but when I went out with my first wash load to peg out it felt bloomin' cold until I got into the sunshine. Then suddenly it felt like a different day! The second wash load is nearing its finish but I might delay pegging out as Exercise Boy is out doing his boxing, sit ups, press ups etc and it would wear me out watching him.
There is another mess to sweep up on the patio courtesy of the renderers next door. Once of a day, in the good old days, any workmen would clear up the mess they made on a neighbour's property but that's a long gone courtesy. So I may, or may not, go out with my sweeping brush when the sunshine hits the patio.
Meals today will be left overs from yesterday and transforming some of the gammon joint into something nice. I am thinking of maybe "orzotto" in a cheese and ham sauce.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of one. Take care and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all, the sun is shining again, Wow ! that's 2 days in a row. The air does feel autumny though and it's a season I love.Yesterday I kept myself busy and even got Mr Fix It to help with the front hedge until he cut through the cable of the hedge trimmer and sent sparks flying
He's ok, but the poor trimmer wire is now a few feet shorter and I've aged a few years through shock !! Didn't send my hair grey though, I've already done that one
Today I will decorate DGS's birthday cake and mow all the lawns, front and back, as it's the first time it's been dry enough for weeks and they look unkempt. I am hoping DD will arrive at some point with DGS in tow so I can do a final fitting of his trousers, although up until yesterday he still had no new school shoes (they have tried several times) so they will have to go a-hunting again today. The school has 2 training days so he doesn't have to go to school til Thurs but then DGD doesn't start next week, so they will both be here tomorrow and Wednesday, then they will be back with the childminder. It's lovely that DGS has a day off on his birthday but he will be officially the oldest child in the school, where has that tiny baby boy gone ?The virus cases in Cardiff are ramping up quickly it seems and there were 9 who tested positive off 3 flights which landed from Zantes yesterday, bet the other people on those flights were not amused. We have had 2 cases in our borough in a month but others surrounding us have had a lot more.Right enough waffling it's up and at 'em, another coffee first ? Don't mind if I do, thanks.Take care all stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
NAN they have just interviewed a woman who was on one of the Zante to Cardiff flights and she said lots of people were either without masks or had them under their chin and the crew didn't appear to ask anybody to put their masks on. Maybe they, like bus drivers, can't do with the abuse they'd get."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11
