Boot heels,peeling
Hi, I've got a good pair of leather knee boots , the heels are covered in narrow strips of leather I think. They have come off from knocking into stone steps etc and driving and you can now see the white plastic of the heel block making them unusable. Has anyone an idea how I could cover them? Or peel it all off and spray…

Outdoor storage box that fits Really Useful boxes well
Hello I am looking for an "Outdoor Storage Box" for the garden that A) You can sit on it, so it can double-up as a bench, and which also: B) Has 62cm of free space inside it i.e. I need to store two of those popular "Really Useful Boxes" that are 31cm tall, on top of each other... ==> i.e. I want to fit a total of FOUR…

Some good advice
Hello locals. I'd like to ask you a favour. I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to regular CVS stores since some of my medication isn't covered by health insurance. Yes, those are non-prescription drugs and I've been thinking about some sort of a cheaper alternative like online drug stores. I've heard that Canadian ones…

Food shopping for one
I am struggling at the moment with keeping organised with food shopping. I tend to buy the heavier stuff online and get it delivered to my door and then just buy fresh food in between but I am very disorganised with this. For example tonight I thought I'd have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for tea so I bought some…

Weekly Flylady Thread 7th October 2019
Thank you, Valli, for last week's thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the…

slow cooker + liquid
Whenever I use the slow cooker for meat the liquid boils away so I need to add more over time. When I do a search about this I keep reading that liquid won't boil/evaporate away. Am I cooking wrong? I always use the stew option over 3-4 hours. I have a Tefal 10-1 multicooker.

As a lot of users have valuable experience in this area I thought it might be a good idea and fun to create a specialist thread on this topic so we can be more creative if certain foods are unavailable or we just want to challenge ourselves to to be a little more creative. Don,t let's restrict ourselves to recipes and…

Newcastle to Portsmouth return journey £1.16!
OH and I went to Yorkshire for August BH weekend for a family do, (we live on the South coast) and decided to take our caravan. We have always wanted to explore that part of the country, and it seemed the ideal opportunity to make a proper holiday of it. The only obstacle in our way was that I had an important appointment…
