Old Style Daily Tuesday 1st October 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Good Morning x
Hope you don't mind me starting as Im awake with Molly dog x
I have had to put the washing machine on as she had an accident on the mat she is getting very old now so it is just one of those things.
DD arrived very tired but Im very glad to see her. My FIL is not as ill as feared but husband will have to stay with his mum for a few days.
The boys did the kitchen last night - i say boys they are 22 and 25 so are capable i still have 3 lads at home as they are still in education and the eldest came home as his relationship split up but Im ok with having them around except when middle son concocts one of his currys!!!!!!!
Thankyou for your kind wishes and hope you all have a good day x

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning All
We had rain overnight, first rain for ages. I feel for those who have had rain for days, it's usually here!
Dug the second bed in the garden yesterday morning, just the concrete from the last washing pole to get shifted, hoping my lovely neighbour will do that today. The skip can go then and I can sort the rest at my leisure (next year!).
I met up with the lovely Gers yesterday for a coffee and a chat which was great, didn't do anything after - decided the window clean could wait.
That's our little school holiday finished, just a couple of weeks until half term. DD's partner goes back to work today, it'll be a struggle for both of them but needs must.
Have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Molly41 - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Wet underfoot with lots of laying water - it rained heavily and for ages last night, but stopped sometime during the night but forecast is for more rain today.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, my fish was baked. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost - but it's still a bit frozen so hoping it will defrost over the day and be ok to use tonight, otherwise I'll have to put my thinking cap on and organise something else.
Yesterday work was busy - we just didn't really stop for most of the day, a mixture of it being the 1st of the month and a mail out - but I prefer to be busy. We had the flood defence gates closed yesterday morning as there was a possibility of flood but it didn't happen but today is an alert aswell - our office is right next door to the river, but today I'm working at the other office in the opposite direction.
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
I haven't posted for a few days because the only thing on my mind was my hospital appointment yesterday – every time I started a post, all I could of was needle....tongue.....needle......tongue, lol. I had to have a local anaesthetic in my tongue yesterday, the dentist found something a few weeks ago and sent me off to get it checked. I can't even clean the back of my tongue without heaving so I was convinced that a needle being there would cause me to heave and I'd end up with it stuck in the back of my throat or somethingI knew I wouldn't feel a thing but I still wound myself up all morning then my heart didn't stop pounding, from when I arrived at the hospital at 1pm to the moment I walked out a couple of hours later. The doc said he'd removed a lesion and put a couple of stitches in the side of my tongue. He's not worried about this lesion but obviously still has to get it tested so will write to me in a few weeks with the reults. It's swollen up nicely so food is going to be boring for a few days. I wasn't allowed anything too hot or cold yesterday, so tea was a bowl of lukewarm mash with a bit of gravy poured on it

We've had grey skies and lots of rain for about a week now. I've managed to get most things done in the mornings so I could spend the afternoons just pottering about. I've lit a scented candle each day after lunch, it's felt very cosy here. Best bit is, there are no cats out and about in this weather so Scampi has been very calm
I'm feeling a lot more relaxed now that yesterday is over, I want to get back to my normal routine. But I'm feeling very tired – relief, I think. The shopping is coming this morning and I'll take Scamp out then get some washing done. Then I'll see how I feelScamp has the vets later, he has a little lump at the top of his leg which I thought was probably an insect bite but it hasn't gone down in the last few days. He will not be impressed with this so I'm going to ask the vet for a muzzle before they go near him.

Morning folks and thanks for the early start MOLLY. I hope you got back to sleep again. Pleased FIL isn't as ill as feared. TRU I hope your tongue soon feels less sore and the lesion turns out to be nothing to worry about.
I have the hospital today for the MRI scan on my increasingly painful legs. Whatever it turns out to be I just hope something can be done about them. I have an appointment in 3 weeks with the surgeon for the answers. DD isn't working today so she is taking me. I have told her to bring something to pass the time as it says I have to allow 90 minutes for the appointment.
Other than that no further plans for today. Even though it won't be painful I shall be glad when it's over. Enclosed in that noisy "tunnel" is not something I am looking forward to.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them.Thinking of TAFF. A wave to absent friends and hoping they may want to join us again soon. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
TA - I have had lots of MRI scans and make tunes to the bumps it helps me relax.
I went back to sleep for a while but now up and about can't do much as DDstill asleep and as she was so tired last night I don't want to disturb her but will do the dishwasher when she up xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Morning everyone
I've got to stay in this morning because I've a contractor coming to give me an estimate for new guttering. With the heavy rain that we seem to get these days the guttering often overflows even just after it has been cleaned out so it has got to be replaced.
While I'm waiting for them I'll get on with the housework so that is out of the way and if it dry enough I need to sweep up the leaves out the back.
Molly I'm pleased to read that your father in law isn't as bad a first feared and that your daughter is there to look after you.
Good luck with the MRI TA, at least you should have some answers as to what is causing the pain soon.
TRU that must have been such a worry for you, I'm not surprised you have been wound up about it. I hope that the swelling is a bit better today and you are able to eat what you want ok.
Taff thinking of you, I hope that you are ok x
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Good morning folks.
What a chilly morning. Brrr.
Yesterday was cheered up immensely by coffee and chat wirh Camelot. DM's visitor stayed with her for ages which she really enjoyed. He's used to elderly women and very placid, just a perfect companion.
Later this morning I'm seeing a surgeon about my knee (not an MRI I hope TA). I hope your appointment goes well TA, when I had an MRI back in 2012 I was asked to choose music to listen to. Think I settled on Tom Jones as there wasn't any Led Zep or The Who.
Tru - the thought of an injection in your tongue just sounds yeugh. I'm so glad it was all a bit easier than anticipated. Fingers crossed for a good result.
Right, must rouse myself. Thoughts to all those struggling. Happy Tuesday to all.0 -
Hope all goes well for you too GERS. Bob had loads of MRI scans throughout his illness and he chose not to bother listening to any music. He said the noise of the scanner was so loud he couldn't hear it anyway!!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Thanks TA, I think I was given headphones which helped - the music didn't! :rotfl:0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Pinch punch and all that jazz, is it October already!
Had the best nights sleep in months, only got up once and now I feel so rested it's lovely. Wish I knew what made the difference.
It's my niece's 18th birthday today. I had to send a card with Moonpig as I forgot to ask one of the kids to get me one from the shops. Wow, they are expensive. I shall be making a list of cards I need for the rest of the year and sending Phoebe to the card shop in town.
MY nurse is coming sometime today to dress my legs, they are feeling a bit better but my foot is still so painful. I spoke to my doctor yesterday and he has prescribed me more painkillers and advised me to Google some exercises for it as I can't get to a physio.
Sausage and bean casserole is on the menu for tonight. It's an easy meal that I should be able to prepare later on. We will have it with baby potatoes and broccoli.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0
